Looking back at Shawn Michaels' career, especially around the 97/98 period, I don't believe he ever wrestled without knee pads. They were missing from Elite 19 but Mattel has a chance to make amends with the WM 14 version coming out in the spring.
The figure already looks odd with the red tops to those kick pads, but with a pair of small knee pads over top of those, it'd make it much less noticeable.
They got them on the basic Heritage version, hopefully we can get them on the upcoming Elite as well if we can be vocal enough about it.

It's not in the budget. The figure is amazing as is, no need for minor details such as knee pads, or non diva biceps.

I'd rather they take paint detail out of the entrance gear.

I would rather they skip the entrance gear all together to get knee pads on it, however I don't know how the budget works, and the figure looks great as it is. I will just need to make some adjustments to it, when it is released.

hbk's one of my fav in the 90s but I'm not too bothered about his figure having no kneepads.

In any pictures I see of the match, he's only got one kneepad on... Looks like the other slid down into his boot maybe?

Kneepads dont bother me. Worse case you can buy a set of pads and get decals from Dean. Unless its guys with short trunks, I'd rather not have kneepads on the figures.

Just physically put knee pads on him?

Entrance gear is way more important than red knee pads.

I feel like they should nail the ring gear first and foremost. Anything else is just a bonus.
They added chest hair for this one, so maybe the next one will have knee pads, and then the one after that will have a necklace, pulling a Jakks and making us buy multiple figures to get one that is right.

It's a awesome looking figure. Unless you want it to give you some 'sucky-sucky' it doesn't need kneepads.

That's right, let's add giving him the ripped torso as well.
Chest hair Necklace Torso Knee pads
We'll get there eventually

Bret needs them too, his don't even need to be painted, which makes them at least easier to fix-up (which we shouldn't have to do)

WM14 HBK figure is amazing. I can't believe anyone is bitching about it.
I think the fact that they colored the top of the kick pads red was genius. And it looks like one of their best figs to date.

I love the fig and the fact that we're getting it. I'm glad they added the chest hair, finally. That being said, he wore knee pads all the time in those days so they should put em on there. The boots don't look bad but they are not the right ones, and the red painted kickpad tops make zero sense, especially since normal calves, and proper boots already exist and could be used.
To those bitching about the bitching...this place is for opinions, suggestions, discussions. It's ok to let MDT know when they get it wrong just as it's ok to praise them when the very often do amazing work.

I'm cool with him being wafer thin with diva arms, and inaccurate boots, simply because the figure has chest hair.

See, as much as I want this figure to be perfect, I don't mind the arms. As long as they're not the same ones that his modern Elites have, I'm fine. I'd rather they be the more toned version of that standard sized arm, but that's a small nitpick.
Mattel's gotten in the habit of making guys too big (Zigger, Kofi, Cody) and I think that's skewing the view of how big he should be.
I still really want him in the attire from "In Your House: DX" from when he wrestled Shamrock for the title. If we ever get that, hopefully they can fix all these issues.
