My brother, cousin, and I had a figure fed when we were younger called AWA... using the old AWA titles, but only being allowed to use talent that wasn't signed to a major company (WWF, WCW, ECW.. then TNA towards the end of our run), or "made up" characters. The idea is that AWA was another national promotion, not quite WWE or WCW levels, but slightly bigger than current TNA or old ECW. We'd use talent like "Sick" Nick Mondo, Tully Blanchard... guys like DDP, Lex Luger, Buff Bagwell, Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Scott Steiner in between them being signed to a major company....
Anyways.. in the AWA, one of the storylines was that one wrestler was goading another for his previous rampant drug use, which he'd since recovered from (as a major part of his gimmick, he was a recovering drug addict). My cousin was writing the antagonists' part.. the ex-addict was one of my characters. We drug the feud out to Superclash (our Wrestlemania), where we had a Falls Count Anywhere blow off match. Cousin's character drove to the ring in car, which made sense, given the "over the top" mode of what we were going for. The match ended up with both wrestlers on top of the entryway... my cousin's guy hits his finisher, they both fall from the top, crashing through the car (that my cousin had rigged), into a pile of "cocaine" (sugar). The antagonist recovers first and shoves the ex-addict's face into the coke.. then rolls him up and pins him.
A bit extreme (more so than most of our storylines).. but it was kinda cool to be both shocked and a bit abhorred at a moment in a figure fed. Of course, it set the villain up for a bigger main event push... it pushed the other guy back down a bit... and it was different to have the conclusion to a huge, six month long feud NOT end with the happy ending...
As far as our WWE/WCW/TNA/ECW/ROH/NWA/AWA universe goes.. my brother and I ran that.. my favorite feud in that would have to be my Sting vs. Shawn Michaels feud leading into a huge Starrcade (seriously.. the same card featured Hogan v Foley.. Punk v Rock... Cena v Goldberg... Outsiders v Hardys.. Flair v Benoit... Arn v Bischoff... Dusty/Larry Z/Savage v Shane Douglas/Awesome/Piper.. and a few more standouts). The feud felt big when doing it.. and I made that the World Title match.. it didn't disappoint.

I had an 'ultimate champion' style feud with classics/legends….have every part of a mega royal rumble in place (written out every move that'll happen & eliminations) that hasn't gone down yet technically the storyline involves time travel & or another dimension for them to be in the same place at once….. Yeah.. to have it make sense, I'm very vague about what condition someone is in for my universe. Obviously, it's strange to have 80's Andre, nWo Hogan, and current Sheamus all in the same universe as commentator Jesse Ventura and manager Freddie Blassie.. but it's just the way it has to be. I go with whatever is convenient on a "per character" basis.

Did you ever .... build some crazy match type to further it? I came up with a match type called the Battleground match. Basically a huge Falls Count Anywhere battle royal style with every wrestler in the promotion... takes up the entire PPV.. and the winner got a specific prize (the right to book the next PPV, the right to determine who gets the next shot for each title, etc.. varied year to year). Man... this makes it sound like our AWA was just a garbage, ECW/CZW promotion.. but it really wasn't.. just some of that was incorporated here and there.

I thought about some kind of rejuvenation formula that's given to them all, or even just that they are ghosts in the future & they forever live on in a haunted wrestling ring somewhere. Maybe a sorcerer turns the toys real - taking on the thoughts & memories. lol too much thought into it all

I had a little federation going on where a made up "CAW" character (which I cant remember his name, its was Chris.... something), which was just a Matt Hardy head on a Christian body was the "King of the Ring". Came out wearing a crown, the KOTR Crown was like a championship but every match would be a title match for it essentially. The winner took the crown, and if you wanted you could cash it in for a World title match. But he was undefeated, and claimed to be the king of wrestling, coming out with a cape and scepter.

I'm normally the creepy lurker type, but I couldn't pass this one up. It's not really one story-line, but a set of them that flow in and out of each other. Keep in mind, this storyline is set during the Attitude Era, which I think many of you tend to look down upon when it comes to classic wrestling, but, as much of a Hulkamaniac, "Warrior," member of the Kliq, etc. I was, I've never felt quite as much of a connection to the sport as I did during the Attitude Era. But, let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? My apologies for the length this will take up.
It's mid-to-late 1998. The WWF has sealed it's place as being the top promotion in the US and possibly the world. Because of this, wrestlers from WCW and ECW have started jumping ship and finding a home within the promotion.
Stone Cold Steve Austin is wreaking havoc as the World Heavyweight Champion, engulfed in a feud with The Undertaker. The Rock has shown his allegiance with Vince McMahon and his Corporation. Mankind, though not particularly successful in ring, has truly become one of the top stars with his enormous fan backing. Triple H, as the leader of DX, leads the stable to new heights, and things couldn't be looking better for the group. Hunter has captured the Intercontinental Championship, the New Age Outlaws are dominating the tag team division as the champs, Chyna is the reigning Women's Champion, and, although not the current holder of any title, X-Pac is on a significant winning streak.
Triple H faces Ken Shamrock for the IC title. Trips hits a pedigree, and goes for the pin. The ref counts 1… 2… Big Bossman pulls the ref out of the ring, arguing that while he wasn't looking, Chyna his Shamrock with a chair (a complete lie.) While the ref is distracted, Big Show enters the ring and floors Triple H. Test brings Shamrock to his knees and brings him back to the land of the living. Shamrock is ready to go for the win when HBK's music hits. He's returned from his back injury and here to save the day.
The next week, DX cuts a promo talking about how great it is to have Shawn Michaels back home in the WWF, but, more importantly, in DX. Shawn explains how he just couldn't stay away, and, with DX behind him, he will lead them to a WWF takeover. Hunter, unhappy with Shawn trying to regain control, says, "I don't know if you've noticed this, Shawn, but we're doing just fine without you--better than we did when you were here. If I remember, when you were in charge, DX's claim to fame was you losing the belt to Stone Cold at Wrestlemania and getting knocked out by Mike Tyson." Shawn tries to insist it was a sucker punch, and, had he seen it coming, he would've kicked Tyson's teeth out. Reluctantly, Shawn agrees to co-lead the stable.
Tensions rise as HBK attempts to usurp power from Triple H, trying to convince the other members of DX to side with him, stating he has more experience in the business and more pull with Vince. Things get more heated as he inadvertently causes Triple H to lose his Intercontinental title to Eddie Guerrero by tripping the wrong person while looking away from the ring during a reversed Irish whip. After the two have heated words, Hunter realizes that it was an accident and they agree there is no hard feelings. Later that night, Shawn is given a title shot against reigning champion Stone Cold. During the match, Stone Cold consistently has the upper-hand until the ref gets knocked down. Triple H enters the ring with a chair and swings at Austin. Austin ducks, the chair hitting Shawn full force, laying him out. Triple H quickly escapes the ring and a stunner, but the damage is done. The chair shot gave Austin the win.
Tensions finally boil over during a battle royal to see who will receive a title shot at the next PPV. At first, Triple H and HBK work in tandem, eliminating 4 of their 8 opponents. Once they're down to the final 4--HBK, Triple H, Big Show, and The Undertaker--Triple H struggles to get Big Show over the ropes, but finally does. Shawn sees his opportunity and delivers a SCM to Hunter, knocking him out. Ultimately, it's for nothing, as Undertaker still wins the match, lamenting his place as the no. 1 contender. For the PPV, a match is made between HBK and Triple H for total control of DX as well as a standard 1-on-1 match between Stone Cold and 'Taker for the strap.
During the DX match, X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws stay backstage. Chyna, however, enters the arena before either Triple H and Shawn, showing that she has no allegiance to either man, but one for DX as a whole. The match is back and forth, with HBK's quickness matching HHH's power. Eventually, though, Shawn calls for the SCM. As he stomps in the corner, Chyna climbs in the ring and gets in the way, begging Shawn not to do it. This gives Triple H the time to recover and swing the momentum in his favor. He calls for the Pedigree, placing Shawn in position, but again, Chyna climbs in and pleads for them not to hurt each other. Reluctantly, Hunter lets go of the hold. Shawn and Triple H decide to end the match and hug. As soon as the hug is over, Chyna delivers a low blow to HBK and give him a Pedigree of his own. The rest of DX runs to the ring and together begin to stomp on HBK's limp body. HBK wins by disqualification, but it doesn't matter; he's clearly out of the group.
In the main event, Undertaker and Stone Cold spend most of the match brawling, with a big move here and there, but ultimately, it ends in a no contest.
The next night, HBK addresses DX stating that he and Hunter weren't the only ones who started DX, and he better remember that, and that there will be a rematch that night with nothing at stake but pride and vengeance. That is, if Hunter has the sack to face him again.
Throughout the night, HBK insists that the real DX is still his, and that Hunter will come to see that. Also, that night a rematch for World Championship match is set for the next PPV.
In the main event, Triple H and HBK face off. HHH's paranoia about being double-crossed by his teammates shows and he insists that DX stays back stage. The match is back and forth for a good while when suddenly the arena goes pitch black and the audience is greeted with that familiar rap "Break it down!"
The lights come back on as Triple H stands at the ropes facing the entrance, shouting. When he realizes no one is coming, he turns around to the ring to be greeted by a returning Rick Rude, who entered through the crowd, and a shot to the face with a steal briefcase.
Pt. 2 to come if anyone's interested.
