Obviously, figures are among the first things to get cut out.. but it sucks to be struggling right now... so much stuff I'd like to get ahold of. Kaitlyn, Rosa Mendez, Tamina, Elite Ambrose, Elite Rollins, Bruno, Trish, Elite Sandow... maybe that new Elite Savage.. then down the pike shortly, Elite Reigns, Fandango, Big E, Zeb, Bray, Harper, Rowan ... maybe Swagger, Roaddogg and Billy Gunn. I did pick up Elite Cesaro, Miss Tessmacher, Crimson, and the Funkadactyls ("Crimson and the Funkadactyls" sounds almost like a 70s funk band), but those were gifts from friends, or trades with friends.
It's a sucky time to be a wrestling figure collector and be dealing with a slack economy and losing work.. but I've got a family to feed, bills to pay, and a business to run. Anyone else going through the same?

Yup. Down here too. But our figures are over $16. So instead I am making my own clothes for figures and playsets. Turns out it is cheaper.

It's just rough man. To buy all of the above figures (not the soon to come, but the ones that are out now) AT RETAIL would be $150-ish, not counting the gas, time, and luck it would take to find them all. $20 for a figure doesn't seem like that much.. but $150 is a bill paid... I totally understand WHY the figures cost what they cost, but it's becoming an expensive hobby to keep up with in this economy..

I know how you feel... this time last year my take-home was about $400 more a month. All you can do is jump on all deals that you can like when kmart had e24 for $8 a pop. My wife gives me weird looks when I come home with figs or a box is sitting on the porch but if I explain it was a deal I couldn't pass up, she understands. She understands if I didnt jump on the deal it would just cost more later because.... they WILL be mine!

So bills and responsibilities are first, of course.. just leaves very little money for things like wrestling figures. Boo. Lol...

Oh, I wasn't quoting Mattel Elite. Those are for Marvel Universe 3 inch figures. The Elites are exactly what you quoted for the UK. I would love to find cheap figures in the U.S.

Man I feel the crunch! Which is why I had to catch the black Friday early sale. There's many more I want to get that I've missed in the pass years, but these figures will always be around.

I was very tempted to get legends when Mattel got the line. I haven't collected anything since BCA figures but the price is way too much these days to justify. There is absolutely no chance in hell I'm spending $15-20 on an action figure. What a joke the prices have become.
I have rent, bills, had a wedding and want to buy a home. No way I'm throwing that much cash at toys, price points are way too high.
I'm so glad I passed since they butchered the legends anyway

When you're in AIG and your guidelines are Apple, you would fine. But the economy is not where it should be.

Bills and responsibilities are for losers! Just ride it out. I bought all of Elite 25 yesterday and I've got a can of green beans and some noodles to survive on for the rest of the week.

Think of it this way - the leading toy company in the world, who earn 10's of millions of dollars a YEAR would rather rise up prices to keep themselves happy then to lower it so we can collect, enjoy our hobby and possibly buy more... They don't care about you, they care only for your hard earned cash... Because they're greedy.
I think , a little far fetched, but some of us should just stop buying and see how they feel when THEY get no money..

Ahh...Those were the days. Thats what my early to mid 20's were about. This time last year I didnt even collect, I was saving for a wedding. Now I'm a married man with a wife that doesn't mind my hobbies. Canned goods and ramen won't cut it though if I decided to achieve free shipping with the black friday sale.

You need something on the side to supplement figure money. Judging by your avatar, seems you need to buy band equipment too.

I'm lucky enough to be doing something I want to do, and I get benefits, but its not a super high paying job, so I have to make sure what I'm getting is something I really want. I also I have a number of other hobbies so I don't have as much for figures as I would like. Also, I don't buy tons of the same wrestlers, if I am buying a worker I already have I make sure it's a clear upgrade or whatever (and use the former for reselling or customs).

All I know is that for the last five years, every year....
*The cost of gas has gone up....
*The cost of parking has gone up....
*The cost of daycare has gone up...
*The cost of groceries has gone up....
*The cost of car insurance - went up....
*The cost of health care? HAH...mine's going Wayy Up.... thanks, Obamacare, for nothing....
*The cost of action figures - that went up too.
And my paycheck? It went up too, but just a little bit.... not nearly enough to cover all this stuff....
I really miss the JAKKS sales at Kay Bee toys, when they were 3 for $10 sometimes.... I must be getting old, remembering the 'good old days'.....
