“Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson has been placed on indefinite hiatus from the reality program following his controversial remarks in GQ magazine regarding homosexuality. While the cast member has not officially been fired, he will not be filming with the show moving forward. A+E Networks, parent company of A&E, has released the following statement to Variety: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community.” As noted in a previous Variety article, Robertson discusses in his GQ interview his religious beliefs and about sin, saying, “start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” Then, the GQ writer paraphrases Corinthians saying, “don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers — they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.” Robertson added in the interview, “It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.” “Duck Dynasty” has been a ratings juggernaut for A&E, recently drawing around 9 million viewers for its Christmas special. Gurney Prods.-produced program can move on without Phil Robertson attached to the series, as the bearded men at the center of the Robertson clan include Jase, Willie and Uncle Si, among others. tv.yahoo.com/news/duck-dynasty-e-suspends-phil-robertson-following-gay-003417098.htmlAs far as I am concerned I am boycotting A&E until they apologize and reinstate him. I hope the family stands with him and and sues them for discrimination. Everyone is allowed their own opinion and beliefs.

Indefinite hiatus is not a firing, your title is wrong. Also, him anyway. He relates homosexuality to a lot of things and he comes off as a crazy person. He can take his piles of money and time off and think about being a bigot. One more thing; yes, everyone is allowed their own opinions and beliefs. However, his contract with A&E may not; he may have completely violated the terms of their deal by doing an interview and spewing a form of hate speech.

He wasn't suspended for Christian beliefs. He was suspended because the way in which he voiced them were disgusting, ignorant, and unnecessary.
I am a Christian yet I don't feel the same way as this man does. This is the type of person who gives a horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE name to Christianity in general.

you can have your opinions and beliefs, but if you're a bigot then your opinions and beliefs suck.

Absolutely nothing "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson said here even comes close to bigotry, unless you want to claim that he is also bigoted against heterosexuals: “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. #$%$, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” Robertson then paraphrased Corinthians from the Bible: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”
And if that wasn’t explicit enough, the “Duck Commander” added: “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s #$%$. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”
Had the "Duck Dynasty" star singled out homosexuals, one might be able to make its case for the absurd charge that he made "anti-gay comments." But as you can read with your own eyes, Robertson did not single out gays, he appropriately listed heterosexual sexual sin, such as adultery and sleeping around.

It's no longer a free speech country we live in. The people bitch to the corporations, the corporations cave in and you lose free speech. What he said was easily disagreeable, and although his own belief it's stupid. However he should not be ed over because of his opinion. It's becoming more and more difficult to voice any opinion in the world we live in because of political correct BABIES and CHILDREN who can't take a comment and scream bigotry, racism, bullying or whatever else they feel. No one has a spine anymore. There is no thick skin. We are now a culture of weak pussies who can not take any comment because this younger generation was never smacked in the mouth and told to shut the up when they were misbehaving.

Don't act like what's he's saying is in anyway bigoted against heterosexuals. Sure he calls out people who sleep around, abuse alcohol, etc; but he more than once judges homosexuality. Hell he said START WITH HOMOSEXUALITY. Why is that the starting point of sins? From there he names bestiality, why is that his next logical point after homosexuality? Don't think heterosexuals are in anyway bigoted against here; he calls out specific behaviors, not a sexuality.

I don't agree with him at all but I think this is all nonsense. He said he doesn't understand it and doesn't agree with it. He never said he hates gays. He thinks they are sinners. The guy prays every episode but suddenly everyone is shocked that like the majority of practicing Christians he doesn't agree with homosexuality? I think what he said was ignorant but so what. He also said he doesn't hate them or discriminate but that he doesn't agree with their lifestyle. And you know what, awesome for him. People should save their vitriol for actual bigots.

He'll be back. Its all about the money. A&E told/asked them before to stop praying at the end of their shows because "it might offend some people". The Robertsons responded by saying "this is who we are, if you dont like it we wont do the show".....A&E reupped their contracts.

"Free Speech" doesn't give you the freedom to say whatever you want and not face the consequences for your words, and "he's religious" isn't an excuse for him not having common sense enough to know when to shut up.
He didn't get suspended for his "Christian Beliefs", he got suspended for being an idiot and not having enough common sense to know he should keep something to himself, especially since it was for a public interview and he's such a public figure.
You can believe what you want, but sometimes it's best to keep your opinion to yourself, especially if you have fame and the opinion will be seen publicly, and if you don't, don't be surprised when something happens because of it.

If he spoke in support of homosexuality, he still would have faced the consequences for his words, just from a different section of people, and if he wasn't prepared for that, he should keep it to himself. Him saying that "all I did was say I like vajayjay" (when that's not even close to what he said) shows he wasn't prepared to stand by what he said or face the consequences for what he said, and he should have kept it to himself. Main point is, if you're going to say something, be sure you can face the consequences and defend yourself, if you can't, don't say it.

The whole point isnt what he said but how he said it. You have the freedom of speech but you have to choose your words wisely. If he would have came out and said "Personally with my beliefs as a Christian I find homosexually wrong and in my opinion they wont be welcomed in the Kingdom of God....however, I dont hate/look down upon them and treat them the same as everyone else." Then this would have been a complete non story.....Except for maybe Ellen who Im sure would bitch about it.
Personally, I agree with everything Phil said, however I dont agree with how he chose to phrase it.

As said, it's not what he said, it's how he said it. He caused a media storm for A&E, embarrassed the network, and they disciplined him as a result. He wasn't discriminated against, how that even became a thought, I'll never know. Nor were his rights being taken away, first amendment specifically.

If his viewpoints were the opposite would you say the same thing? People who support homosexuality should keep it to themselves? If he spoke in support of homosexuality, he still would have faced the consequences for his words, just from a different section of people So he would have still been suspended for saying homosexuality is great? Do you honestly think that if no one through a fit about it that A&E would have brought him back? Also saying that what he said is ignorant is the exact attack christians mention when saying Christianity is the only thing free to bash. If someone on here went on to say that all homosexuals are ignorant bigots do you think members here would let it go? It's an opinion. Only thing is lately with this politically correctness crud the only thing you're allowed to bash is Christianity. I don't ask or want any homosexuals fired or suspended or underpaid. I would not fire someone for having an opinion no matter the opinion. Unless it's something actually extreme like they wish all ____ would die. As long as your opinion is non threatening I am fine with it. I'll respect it. I may not agree with it but I am fine with you having it. I want equal rights. I want to be able to follow my god and speak and do what he asks as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else. In fact I want anyone to be able to follow or believe or do whatever they want as long as no one else is hurt. Did he threaten anyone? Did he specifically call out only homosexuality? NO. I may think he shouldn't have said the following though in such words though, “It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.” However is that worth indefinitely suspending a man? Also take 10 guys who have gotten indefinitely suspended. You'll notice 9 out of the ten never got to go back. All it is, is a PC way of saying you are fired.
