Is it me or does their flashback line seem to have a lot of repeats of the same wrestler such as the undertaker or Shawn Michaels? I'm new to collecting Mattel but I wonder has WWE ever considered making flashbacks of their lesser known stars Like Greg Valentine with Shinguard or manager Jimmy Hart with megaphone or Hercules with chain or have they done this already. I know they did it with classics but Mattels figures have such greater detail I was curious.

Bro, you must of not been here for Q and A's but for a flashback to be made; they must be UNDER A CONTRACT as either a Mattel exclusive (never happens) or WWE legends contract. We don't know who is and isn't like I didn't know Andre the giant has been and his one expires next year. We don't see the same undertaker and HBK, don't know what your on about.

It all boils down to what will sell. Any Shawn Michaels will sell better than a Greg Valentine. There is no longer a full line for Flashbacks with Legends being gone, and it seems Mattel's flashback strategy is primarily focused on people who have current ties to the WWE (even Bruno fits in that category).
Also, this is due to those wrestlers being signed to deals with the WWE. Mattel isn't willing to go out and negotiate with a Valentine type because there's little money to be made there. Easier to use guys who already have Legends deals with the WWE.

Not only that, but the Legends (where we got those old school guys that kids don't know) line failed. With the exception of Bruno (which was a huge surprise), Andre (the only reason he got one is because of Wrestlemania III, mind you), and a couple more, don't count on seeing any of the Jakks Classic-type legends. The majority of us would like to see it, but they'd shelf-warm like crazy unless they were package at a .5 rate or even a .25 rate, which would mean you'd probably never see them on the shelf anyway. With Mattel having tried to get us Legends multiple times and failing, it's just way too risky to try a large amount of 70s, 80s, and early-90s guys again. At least any time soon.
Unless they at least were a household name at one point, don't hold your breath.

They release figs of who sells. Kids don't know who Greg is. But adults do and it's a shame kids don't know how great The Hammer was.

Taker had 2 FB's (E18 and E23) and HBK had 1 (E19) in 2013. Seeing as they are 2 of the most well known superstars of all time, it's expected we see multiple releases. And as far as I know, they are only slated to have a combined 1 FB in 2014, being the WM HBK that's coming out in January/February.

Aside from the contracts that was already mentioned, Mattel mainly makes figs of legends that are still extremely popular or associated with its current product. Road Dogg and Billy Gunn appear on TV from time to time and work behind the scenes, Warrior was heavily used to promote 2K14, Rikishi is the USOs father, Bruno and Trish were just inducted into the Hall Of Fame, etc.. Im sure a well known guy like Jimmy Hart will get a BAF in the years to come, but i highly doubt any time soon.

There were so many other stars in the 80's that would make awesome figures. I mean complaining wont do anything but a man can dream

One every two cases would be .5, one every four cases would be .25. I just mean that they would have to package them very limitedly.
