Which World Championships do you believe to still be prestigious in the modern era? I believe the following are the most prestigious out of the independent scene and above, of course I believe the WWE Undisputed championship to be at least in the top four however I wouldn't regard it as the most prestigious in wrestling today considering it has been used more in recent years as a sports entertainment marketing campaign instead of what it is suppose to represent.
I would say the list would probable go something like this,
1. Ring Of Honor World Championship 2. The WWE Undisputed Championship 3. The CZW World Championship 4. The NWA Heavyweight Championship 5. The Shimmer World Championship
Now for those wondering why I did not list any foreign championships, I have not followed Japanese or Lucha Libre wrestling in quite sometime so I cannot discuss the linage of those championships nor the importance of them in the modern era.
I also believe these are the least prestigious currently, so if you would like to add your opinion on those as well its fine with me.
1. The TNA Heavyweight Championship 2. JCW World Championship 3. XPW Championship (considering it was defended a year or two ago in a reunion show) 4. The House Of Hardcore World Championship 5. The AWA Heavyweight Championship

In my opinion, I think the order of âprestigeâ is:
4. National Wrestling Alliance World Heavyweight Championship 3. Ring Of Honor World Championship 2. Total Nonstop Action World Heavyweight Championship 1. Unified Undisputed World Wrestling Entertainment World Heavyweight Championship
All others, in my opinion, are tied for 5th place.

WWE World Heavyweight is EASILY the most prestigious imo. People on the indies dream all their lives to get to the top of the biggest company of the world. The kid beginning to train doesnt dream about being ROH champ but WWE Champ.

Just out of curiosity, the TNA championship was just defended in Mexico and Japan this month and will be defended in the UK multiple times next month, people like Kurt Angle, Sting, Mick Foley, etc have held the belt. How is that belt not considered "prestigious"?

1)WWE Championship 2)IWGP Championship 3)AJPW Triple Crown 4)TNA Championship
I would have put the World Heavyweight Title on the list somewhere before it was unified but not sure where I would rank it as it was clearly used as a "B Title". No other Indy title belongs on the list. Nor does a ghost title from the past like the NWA or AWA title which are completely irrelevant today as to what they were 25-30 years ago.

How is that belt not considered "prestigious"? 100% agreed, especially considering the list from the OP suggests the CZW title to be prestigious??!!?!?!? Also the nWa title has had some recent exposure, but outside of TNA was almost dead for a long time. This list also fails to list the IWGP Title. Not sure how we can discuss prestigious titles without considering the most important world title in the world. 1. IWGP Title 2. WWE Title 3. TNA Title 4. ROH 5. nwa

I stand by my previous post, The TNA championship is not prestigious. So you give the belt to everyone who was big in the WWE besides Sting, and might I add the only reason Sting has had it in the past is to keep him content with staying in the company. This makes it prestigious? On what grounds? None of the defenses have been that incredible minus a few of Kurt Angles 5 star matches. Now I would agree the TNA-NWA Championship was more prestigious considering it's legacy and the ones who held it during its run with TNA. Yes, this includes Jeff Jarrett's run with the championship too.
and Cmshowstopper if you would read my original post which you did not, I will quote the bottom of the original post once more.
Now for those wondering why I did not list any foreign championships, I have not followed Japanese or Lucha Libre wrestling in quite sometime so I cannot discuss the linage of those championships nor the importance of them in the modern era. IWGP falls under this category I cannot discuss something I know nothing about, unlike many of you on here. I will not pretend I know it all about something I know little of. So you can get upset with me if you want, however what I would appreciate if you would inform me with actual knowledge about the over seas championships instead of ridiculing me about it.
Now on to CZW, I was brought into this company's history recently, and a member on here said it well. The belt isn't actually held by many death match guys, some of the now popular independent stars have held this belt, I think it's a great stepping stone for a major run in the big leagues some day therefore I believe it to be prestigious to a certain degree. Not to mention it's about the realistic wrestling can get, the guys damn near kill each other over the belt.

The only reason Sting had was to keep him content with staying with the company?!?!? When did Sting become a belt mark? Sting went to TNA b/c he felt he owed the Jarretts for giving him a big break when he needed it. He stayed with TNA b/c he has always felt Dixie has treated him like family and really would like to see TNA succeed and become viable competition to WWE. He doesnt give 2 shits about having a belt or winning matches. He wants whatever that makes TNA succeed. The TNA Title is more prestigious than you give credit to b/c its the World Title from the #2 company in the US. It was recently defended in Mexico and Japan. The names that have held it like an Angle, Sting, Hardy, AJ are bigger names....MORE PRESTIGIOUS names than Adam Cole, Kevin Steen, Jay Briscoe...all of whom are your most recent champions. And please do not start citing Tyler Black, Bryan Danielson, etc as big names that held the ROH Title....as neither Black nor Danielson are big names. Now Seth Rollins and Daniel Bryan are SUPERSTARS. And thats not a slight against either one of those men, as those are 2 of the best in the world and were 2 of the best in their ROH days. But we arent talking about who can work...we are talking about prestige. No one ridiculed you over your lack of knowledge concerning any company's title....cept TNA. Your post concerning TNA sounds like the typical broken record. Ex WWE guys? If TNA signed no Ex WWE guys and only used indy talent.....they would be an indy company and WOULD NOT have lasted the better part of a decade plus. My comment concerning CZW being garbage has nothing to do with "death match" guys. Its directed specifically at the company itself. And as I said about the ROH Title....Drew Gulak, Masada, Scotty Vortekz, Devon Moore, Robert Anthony.....they are nothing but indy guys. Once again, no disrespect as I love indy workers.....but this is a discussion concerning prestige and not work rate. Then again....outside of Gulak.... none of those guys are really that good either.

1. PWG World Heavyweight Championship. 2. WWE Championship. 3. ROH World Championship. 4. TNA Heavyweight Championship.
Booking your champion and title itself like craptakes away prestige no matter who is holding it. WWE and TNA book there champions like utter shit.

Im sorry but any list that doesnt start with the WWE World Championship as #1 is not even remotely credible at all. No aspiring wrestler (that wants to actually be a wrestler not a Fry cook Monday-Friday and wrestle on the weekends) wakes up in the morning and says "God I hope one day I can be the CZW Champion"

If the CZW Championship lead to the ROH Championship, and then on to bigger things I would be all for it.

However, the guys working NJPW, most of TNA, and big name indy stars are NOT weekend warriors. The reason people want to goto WWE is money. Prestige and money are not tied to one another.

i don't agree with the TNA title having any prestige, no matter what soil it is defended on. it has only been around since 2007 for christ sakes. we woukdn't give the ROH title any prestige had guys like punk, joe, danielson, and styles not gone on to do better things.IWGP is number 2 right behind WWE for sure.

The list of anyone should automatically start with WWE. Hands down.
