Got TD DDR Supernova on PS2 for 5 moneys at a permanant store/flea-markety place from a section/booth/guy that usually has excessively overpriced video games (such as random Sega sports games for like $8, JC Motors may know the place I'm talking about).

Tried to beat Fallout Boy's "Dance Dance" thinking it would be some stupid easy song for the American audience. Tried five times and keep getting crushed by it. It's so fast and I can't get the beat down like I can the 'usual' DDR songs. It's not particularly hard.. just fast and hard to grasp for me. Damn.




Anyway, since I already invited JC here, how bout Rusty Wallace testing at Daytona the other week? Damn, I was marking out. Sick car, too. Brad is by no means my favourite but he probably is my de facto favourite; I haven't had a favourite driver since Rusty retired in 2005.

I'm bored. Someone give me something to write about.

Timing is everything. It's a lesson he learned from years of playing Fire Pro Returns. In other games, you can spam punches, kicks, and even grapples, but in Fire Pro, everything you do must be perfectly timed. Sure, X and square could be useful in moments of of pure desperation, but they were rarely effective, but no, in Fire Pro, just like this like very moment in his life, the timing is all that matters.

It's why he stood there, slack-jawed and mute, neither of which reflecting in the importance if his job or his years of education. He'd always prided himself on being eloquent, for being able to say just the right thing at the right time, but here, both the right time and right thing were beyond his reach.

He'd seen their charts, he knew their family history: their son had died in a car crash not one month prior, hit by a drunk driver lost in the inebriated rumblings of his inner-dialogue, his subconscious clawing its way to his conscious mind, as his conscious mind sank to the bottom of his whiskey-soaked liver. Had he not being arguing with the shearing wheel as if were his ex-wife, who, at that moment, was on a plane traveling as far away from his addiction as possible, and had been paying attention to the bright white eyes of the oncoming car, it's possible they could have both lived, if not avoided the entire impact altogether. But, sometimes, that's just not how life works.

So, now, with all that lingering tragedy in the air, thick and toxic as L.A. smog, he had to bring them even more.

This wasn't Fire Pro, there were no X or square he could desperately mash, causing his controlled being to flail around as if he'd seen a mouse. There was no ring to escape from to catch his breath. And, in the end, there will be no rematch option to redo an outcome he didn't like. This was life.

Knowing now that each and every millisecond he spent in silent would cause that timing he was looking for to be even further away, he took action. Swallowing a bubble of impossible anguish that had set-up base somewhere in his throat, he choked out the three word that would change their very lives forever. "You have cancer."
