You never know what people are going through in their life or what has led them to the situation they are in. It's easy to look at a fat person and write them off as fat and gross. It's harder to not judge and try to understand. But then again, I'm sure nobody has ever judged you incorrectly or with malice before. .......dammit TRDub made me feel like a jackass More like a reminder. Everyone could use a reminder to treat other people with respect and to not judge others based on superficial things. It's an easy thing to lose track of as our daily lives are so hectic and full of negativity. But sometimes consider, maybe the fat person you see that is gross, actually has recently lost 50 pounds and is finally starting to feel better about themselves. Or maybe they have been battling weight gain and depression for years and are perilously close to suicide. Maybe after years of being made fun of for their weight, they gave up on their hopes, and dreams, and lost all self-esteem and live a lonely miserable existence where they hate themselves and the slightest act of kindness from a stranger might make their day or possibly even turn their life around. Not that this applies to everyone, and not that every fat person is to have pity bestowed on them. An ahole is an ahole no matter what they look like. Judging people is in our nature. But sometimes we should all step outside the box, and consider the options and possibilities. |

.......dammit TRDub made me feel like a jackass More like a reminder. Everyone could use a reminder to treat other people with respect and to not judge others based on superficial things. It's an easy thing to lose track of as our daily lives are so hectic and full of negativity. But sometimes consider, maybe the fat person you see that is gross, actually has recently lost 50 pounds and is finally starting to feel better about themselves. Or maybe they have been battling weight gain and depression for years and are perilously close to suicide. Maybe after years of being made fun of for their weight, they gave up on their hopes, and dreams, and lost all self-esteem and live a lonely miserable existence where they hate themselves and the slightest act of kindness from a stranger might make their day or possibly even turn their life around. Not that this applies to everyone, and not that every fat person is to have pity bestowed on them. An ahole is an ahole no matter what they look like. Judging people is in our nature.
