What are some figures that you saw protos for, maybe even MOC pics for, and decided you'd be passing on, only to see them in person in a store and not be able to leave them on the pegs?
An example of mine would be BOPPV Daniel Bryan. I am a huge Daniel Bryan fan. But I just didn't think the scan suited him. But when I walked into TRU and found him, there was no way I wasn't buying him.
What are some of these examples you guys have? They can even be the opposite, you wanted them up until you saw them.
I'm looking forward to your answers.

Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins Elite
Didn't start caring about the Shield until recently for whatever reasons, so when I saw them I had to have them.

Definitely the RSC Stone Cold for me. Everyone would always say how great it was, but I was happy with the All Stars 2-Pack one I had. I ended up getting it because it was lose and I wanted the belts. When it came, I finally understood what all the fuss was about. The head scan exactly like the man himself. Not only that, but it has a lot more personality than the regular one.

Surprisingly, RSE HCTP Lesnar. Didn't think much of it, still thought it was cool, got it for Christmas and then just thought, "WOW."

E25 Brodus Clay. By far his best figure. I had no plans to buy it until I saw it and took advantage of Kmart's $13.00 sale.

Elite 23 Antonio Cesaro, i was so mad that because of budget issues his awesome jacket couldn't be included. I refused to buy it for months for that reason. when i saw him on the pegs at Super Kmart I just couldn't pass him up.

I wasn't going to get Elite 24 Miz....but then I saw it in person and had to buy it. I don't even like Miz. I don't dislike Miz, he's just one of those guys in real life that I don't really care about him one way or another. I can take him or leave him. But when I saw that figure, I had to have it for some reason. Just a great looking figure.

Definitely my most recent example of thus thread subject.

This year? It was Elite 25 Sin Cara. Don't get me wrong, the figure looks sick, but I had no plans of adding it to my collection. Then, I walked into my TRU and got E25 fever. Lol, they had Sheamus, Seth Rollins, Bruno, and Sin Cara. It was even more dope in person!

this used to happen quite a bit with jakks for me, when i still collected. Mattel not so much (outside of January 1st, 2010...when I bought a ton to kick-start the new mattel collection).
I remember driving to TRU just to get RA 20 Flair (the fat one), then ended up going back like an hour later to get Masters and Booker T (neither of which I really needed because I had the original masters and he was suspended at the time, and I had the superior DA booker t also) because I was so impressed after seeing them in person.
I also remember picking up AD 23 Hardy/Nitro...even though all I needed was the Booker T/Batista and ECW 1 Punk at the time. I remember I was going to hold out for a better jeff since I had a fix up of him in the correct attire and had a virtually identical Nitro from TT3. But alas, TRU was having a buy 2 get 3rd free sale, so I splurged. Plus I was able to trade/sell the hardy for a decent deal when the WM 23 Hardy boys 2-pack came out like 2 months later.
It was more frequent to pick up a figure on sale (like when they had that massive sale in 2005 with RA's for like $2.25) that I didn't really need just so that a day-long figure hunt wasn't wasted.

Jerry Lawler - I didn't like the scan based on pics and was perfectly happy with the Jakks Lawler figure (from 2-pack with Andy Kaufman). Eventually, I saw the figure in person at a flea market and liked it enough to pick it up. It didn't hurt that the figure was loose but mint and selling for $10 E24 Miz - I was happy with whatever previous Miz elite I had until I saw this one in person and saw just how damn good it looked.
