This is just an open message to everyone with my thoughts about the board currently, and somewhere for people to post their ideas and thoughts. Firstly, 2013 was a very positive year for Pic Fedding. Lots of great new feds, some veterans returning, and other mainstays continuing their feds. Participation in joint events was a good number, and there was some entertaining stuff to show. We also had more preview and hype posts being done in the Discussion Board, which was a nice touch. Preview pics, teasers, storylines developing all helped the board stay active. The last month has been hectic for everyone, which may be why activity is down. Hopefully, this can be turned around in the early part of this year. If most/all of last year's feds stick around, plus some new ones show up, then it should be another really good year. One gripe I do have that's starting to develop, is the lack of people replying to other people's shows. We all do this because we love getting feedback off other people and seeing what they liked about our shows, and where we can improve. It seems recently that people aren't doing this as much to other people's shows, but still expecting replies to their own. Replies of "will edit later" aren't helpful when those never get edited, nor is ignoring a new fed and not replying. One possible way around this is to do a 'reply for reply'. Reply to a show, put a link or plea to the fed owner to reply to your show, and everyone is happy. If someone ends up not replying to your show after you have replied to theirs, then either PM them and remind them, or simply don't reply the next time. It's not fair for people like asparagus4 and attitudesback, who seem to reply to everything that's posted on the board, to then not get replies back on their efforts. That's enough on that for now. If you have any other ideas for 2014, or comments about the board, then please post below and we can all discuss. Proposed calendar: March: Pic Fed Magazine
April: Pic Fed Festival (7 shows, 7 days)
June: Pic Fed Magazine
July: Freedomania
September: Pic Fed Magazine
December: Figamania VIII T

2014 was a big year for the board, and i have enjoyed watching alot of shows. Without doubt, I do get a bit lazy and watch a show, but dont reply right away. Thats what I will try and do better this year. Overall, I just think keep doing joint shows, work together and this will be another good year.

I'm all for another good year but I'm a little bummed about the lack of replies to impact. If it's going to take so much work a few more replies would be appreciated.

Too much clique fed ding still going on that's what drives most people away. One guy returns and everyone flips out, then he does jack squat and the mainstays of the board get ignored. Way too much reply whoring going on also do your stuff for the fun of it not for replies. Too much baby crap still going on around here for me. Also the quality if shows are getting worse everyone reboots their Feds and that still lack excitement guys need to focus on the basics instead if getting worse at them. I also seem to remember you calling out warsman and other twa members for not replying to shows yet other guys come on here who don't support the board but r thinking of returning so of course now they will reply to get replies for awhile at least. They get treated like kings around here yet here we are your thinking of stepping down and the board has been dead for awhile now. I understand a lot of fedders were teens when they started out but it ain't 2006 anymore we need to move on and draw in new people not constantly relive the past. -I have fun by seeing what other people think of it. A key part is knowing that it's either being appreciated or knowing how I can develop it -Feds starting out need the replies to help them get better. It's not fun for them if no one is watching it and they don't know how to make it better -I'm still expecting Champ to make a proper return and start posting. If not then I'm going to be pretty annoyed. I thought it'd be good for the board and a nice boost at the end of the year, as well as being another good example of what new Feds can aspire to

Or is that just me?

Bonfire Night had a great turnout and the buildup people did for Figamania was brilliant, really hyped it up. I just feel that to stay active we need to make it a proper community by getting a good cluster or regular members.

I think a Chat thread would work well, we can get regular members chatting there and be a bit more like a community. That works for the animation board, and I think a trial run at that would be good.

It allows us just to chat, share updates. tbh, having alot of updates threads means I miss things in feds ect... If they just were discussed in a chat thread, I would see them all and we can interact and build hype easier. I think it would work.

Are we allowed to even have a chat thread again? I thought JS stopped this board from having one due to the constant fights back in 2009-2011 that had about 5 threads locked. Those people seem to have left the board however, so it could work today.

I'll look into a Chat thread. Seems like the demand is there. Do we reckon carry on with individual threads too or not bother

Good idea, but as Titch said, replies need to step up( myself included), and certainly devisive attitudes need to be squashed. This board is for people that share a hobby, as I've always seen it, and there should always be a good bit of support unilaterally. I thought 2013 was very promising. New fedders, lots of interest, return of some old fedders It waned here toward the end but I'm sure it will pick back up. But most definately there needs to be strong communal support. i've made some great freinds on here through the years just by sharing the same interest. And yes, as attitudeisback has said, this is alot of work, for people not to really show they care. Bottom line, this place is what you make it. Could we possibly devise a rubric for replies?

I think we can work out a way. This is a dumb idea, but have like a "sign ups" where your are signing up to reply to shows? That kinda means that on everyshow produced, you know you will get so many replies? Also means people know they have to reply.

Like a kind of 'repliers' union' thing? That's a good idea, but We'd need to think of rules and regulations for it, and what not. I like it though.

Seems like we're getting lots more replies already which is great. The board already looks more active and it's good to see some newer members getting involved!

Maybe make a list and everyone on that list has to be commited to reply to everyone else on that list? Also, here's a rubric i was talking about. It allows people that maybe dont have time to reply to leave a reply by numbering 1-4 and giving a score for each category. Obvioulsy additional comments should be added. Let's say, you really like something that happened, then you can state that without going through the typical..."good presentation, nice poses, etc etc.
