I know that I'm jumping ahead but when Chase Elloitt eventually makes it to cup, do you think he will get the number nine? Marcus Ambrose has it now, but a lot can change in 2 to 3 years. I know the # 94 isn't currently being used, but I'd much rather see him in the nine. He'll be replacing Gordon by 2017. Im not so sure he'll replace Gordon unless Gordon has plans to retire soon. He'll only be 45. Id say there's more of a chance of him replacing Kahne or Junior. Gordon and JJ just seem like guys that have a job until they're ready to go.

No one is replacing Dale Jr. at Hendrick. He brings in way to much money. It really depends on how long Jeff wants to race. As soon as Chase is ready for Cup Rick will make sure he has a ride, even if that means letting Kasey Kahne go.
Still, if he replaces Gordon, Chase won't keep the # 24..

Looking forward to the new season. Harvick is my boy. Dillon isn't ready for Cup. I'll be surprised if he cracks the top 18-20. Ricky S, finished 19th? And he had more Nationwide success. That tends to happen during a rookie season, though I see Austin doing a bit better because he has more experience at the Cup level than Ricky had. Ricky had 4 races the year before his rookie season, Austin had 11.

Arrowhead leaves Burton, Turner: Sources say that Arrowhead, the primary sponsor for Jeb Burton in the #4 Chevy has abruptly withdrawn its support to Turner Scott Motorsports, suddenly leaving the driver and team in limbo with the 2014 Camping World Truck Series season-opener less than a month away. Reported troubles within the Arrowhead corporate structure have been cited for the sudden and unexpected departure from the South Boston, Virginia driver. In August 2013, federal agents from the USDAs Office of Inspector General and the IRS raided Cherokee Tobacco LLC, the operating company of the Arrowhead electronic cigarette brand, seizing business records. It is currently unknown if the apparent drop of sponsorship is linked to that investigation. After a surprisingly strong freshman season in the Camping World Truck Series, which included a season-high six poles, a win at Texas Motor Speedway, five top-fives and 11 top-10s en route to a fifth place finish in the final championship standings, Burton had been eyed as a champion hopeful this season. Burton under the reins of Mike Hillman Jr. posted one of the fastest laps in preseason testing at Daytona International Speedway two weeks ago adorning the Arrowhead brand. The duo finished fifth in their Daytona debut last February. Anyone planning on attending any races this year? I always hit up the New Hampshires races. Trying to get a crew for at least one of the Dover's. See how the year goes as id love to hit up Dega or Homestead in the fall.

I enjoyed last year. I wouldnt mind getting to go to Coke 600 but I dont like missing the Indy 500.

I had plans to attend the IndyCar race at Barber but doesn't like likely for 2014. EDIT: It's not a race.. but I'm trying to hit up the Kyle Busch Fan Club meeting and get some die-cast signed in May.

I'll be at Dover in June. My uncle already ordered the tickets for my cousin, myself, and my girlfriend. It'll be her first race, and after a **FAR TOO LONG** 11 race absence from Dover, I'll be there for the 3rd year in a row.

I'm really gonna try and get back into NASCAR this year. My dad used to take me to the time trials in the Pocono's and at Dover every year. I stopped going when they forced you to spend $50+ on Fridays for the Truck series race/NASCAR time trials. Now that I'm in my 20's I'm hoping to make my way up to the Pocono's this summer. I do miss NASCAR.

My math was off above, I had a 12 race Dover absence. Both races in 2007-11, plus September in 2006 and June in 2012.
Anyways, who likes the changes to the Chase that are all but announced?
*Expanding the Chase to 16 drivers *After Race #3, drivers from 13th to 16th in points are eliminated from contention. *After Race #6, drivers from 9th to 12 in points are eliminated from contention. *After Race #9, drivers from 5th to 8th in points are eliminated from contention.
All this leads to drivers from 1st to 4th in points having a 2nd points reset and setting up a winner take all at Homestead-Miami.

I don't care for a 1 race winner take all deal. I am a traditionalist and prefer the old points method vs. the Chase anyway. However, the Chase has made it more exciting and still worth watching once football season starts.
I would leave the Chase how it is personally. 16 guys are too many to start with also IMO. When I saw this a week or so ago, it just reminded me to the Golf Fed Ex cup thing where whomever wins the last event out of the top 3/4 wins the entire thing. Guy could win the 3 events prior but still lose.
Also the biggest race of the season is now at Homestead. That sucks, put it at a major track. I understand no Daytona or Talladega, but somewhere with some history.

Chase changes announced today.
Expanding from 12 to 16 drivers. A win in the first 26 races all but guarantees a spot in the now renamed Chase Grid. Driver must also remain in the Top 30 in points. 15 spots for drivers who win a race in the first 26 races. The 16th spot will go to the highest pointed non-winner from the 26 races.
Chase races 1-3: The Challenger Round. All 16 drivers will battle for a spot in the Top 12 in points. If you win one of those 3 races, you lock in a spot in the next round, guaranteed.
Chase races 4-6: The Contender Round. The 12 drivers that lock up a spot from the previous round. Same rules apply. The drivers will battle for one of the Top 8 spaces [what is this, MySpace?] Win and you get in the next round.
Chase races 7-9: The Eliminator Round. Final push to HMS. Fight to lock up a spot in the final four. Win and you're locked in the final round.
Chase race 10: The Championship Round. The final four drivers after Phoenix will have their points reset to 3000. Highest finisher of those 4 at HMS will be the Sprint Cup Champion.

NASCAR has legit reached TNA levels of stupid with the new points system and Chase format.
WE NEED TO MAKE WINNING MEAN MORE!
So let's make it where someone could win 35 races in the course of the season, finish 2nd at Homestead, and lose the championship!
"There are no bonus points for wins during the Chase as part of the reset."
