I recently experienced the horror of being dragged to a Lifeway Christian store, due to my mother's religiosity & crippling fear of traveling alone. I spent the duration of my wait browsing over the only book on textual criticism in the entire building. The store was rather crowded so I sought refuge(Puns!) in the children's section, when I discovered the latest product from the animation team responsible for the "Veggietales" franchise.
Sheerluck Holmes.... They wrote a Christian parody of the literary alter-ego to the great grandfather of forensic science. The Ambassador of deductive reasoning & the unarguable need for evidence.
Am I the only one who sees the utter stupidity, hypocrisy, & corporate depravity of such a thing? I'm aware that it's considered an irrelevant children's show, but think about the nonsensical nature of such a ridiculous concept.
Indoctrinating children to believe in faith as virtue by using a parody of the ultimate master of deductive reasoning. The character best known for never changing facts to suit theories, only theories to suit facts. When you've eliminated all the impossibilities, that which remains, however unlikely MUST be the truth.
