Hey everyone, I'm in the middle of making a custom Hulk Hogan. For the most part it's turning out great except I can't get the boots right. I'm using Elite 16 Ezekiel Jackson as the Body and he has black boots. Rather than shell out the money for a Randy Savage figure with the Yellow boots (seriously, is he the only figure with yellow boots!!!), I decided to Paint Big Zeke's black boots. I'm using Testors Model Masters Acrylic: Insignia Yellow. I washed the boots, let them dry after a few minutes, mix my paint and go to work. Results have been very unsuccessful. I don't have any pictures yet but instead of the paint going on smooth, its bubbling up and it's very tacky. Worst of all, it won't dry. Never had this problem with acrylic paint. I used sand paper to remove the paint and I rubbed it all over the boots cause I heard it can help the paint stick. I still had the same end result. The only explanations I can come up with were it's the boots and the material mattel uses won't allow them to be painted OR its the paint. The paint was unusually runny and the container was missing the liner. Maybe someone bought it, used a great deal of it and returned it to the store? I'm going to return it anyway.
So, if you guys or gals have any experience or advice when it comes to the Mattel Boots (Elite Boots) and painting them, I'd love any and all help.

I'm no pro, but if there is something fishy with the paint bottle itself, I'd say that is your problem. I've never had any issues with Testor's paints - or any Acrylic paint doing anything like you are describing.
