It's kinda lame that the most over wrestler is not in the title match or the Royal Rumble match - at least, not yet. This show sort of felt like the WWE just going through the motions. Totally agree. I think there is still a chance that Bryan will be a surprise entrant... but the way it was all phrased with "because Luke and Eric are in the Rumble, you'll be open for me to get you" (or whatever was said) sounded awkward. The matches aren't happening at the same time.. if the Rumble is after, which it should be, Bryan could still go over Bray and show up in the Rumble match. IDK. Weird though. They could say that whoever wins has a spot in the Rumble.

AND TAKE AWAY, ALL THESE PILLS If those are song references, then the joke's on me. You still haven't provided any context as to how a semi-retired journeyman, returning from a four year hiatus(that was believed to have been a permanent retirement) deserves to be the winner of a match that grants a main event, championship match at the biggest show of the industry. I'm glad Batista back & posess immense excitement for his participation in the next batch of PPVs, but I am genuinely curious what compells you to think he deserves to win the Rumble. Yeah it's lyrics to their song "save me" used for a WWE PPV years back. Great tune. And Batista deserves it because he holds more star power than anyone else on the current roster (minus maybe Bryan and Lesnar). He deserves it because in the 4 years he was gone, No body stepped up to become "the man". We still have the same Cena formula going strong. Who else can win that match and give us a credible main event for mania 30

Bryan is more over than Batista ever was, and Punk is just as over as Batista was at his peak. Punk could have been the guy (not from a media standpoint, but he had overtaken Cena in terms of popularity within the company), but WWE squashed it with the heel turn. Not to mention, Batista never even really had enough clout to main event a Wrestlemania to begin with. Aside from Wrestlemania 21 (which lacked star power working matches), he was never trusted to close the show.

Hell, everyone took a backseat to Trump/McMahon that year, even if Michaels/Cena went on last.

Secondly, Daniel Bryan & CM Punk both stepped up to the plate over the last two years & proved beyond all doubt that nothing besides backstage politics stand in their way from being the focal point of the company. Batista did nothing to earn the privilege & he certainly proved he's not ready to be back in a spot of top billing last night. One more thing. If we're going to choose from retired/semi-retired Wrestlers to be part of the Main Event, then we should give it to Undertaker, Lesnar or Steve Austin since they all have twice, & two of them over triple the star power Batista could ever posess. With all of the talk regarding Austin vs Punk over the last 5 years, Austin's discussions with coporate about being a part of the show, & the cult dream that the fans share with CM Punk to see him in the show closer of Wrestling's biggest spectacle, any booker would prefer that match over wasting a title match on Batista .

I'm ready!! The hype on Twitter is at PPV level. I unfollowed everyone and deleted all my tweets. No, not to be like Ambrose. Twitter just blows. Batista kinda blows too. That you Ryback?

I totally agree about Punk and Bryan and id even add Ryback and Miz to the list of names who at ONE point looked like they could've overtaken Cena as the guy. But when have any of them been "the focal point" over Cena unless Cena was out with injury?? Never. But if you took all those names and added Batistas and posed the question "who was closest to taking over Cena as the guy " you have to go with Batista. Maybe some of you don't remember but he was at the point where it was Cenq esque how often he was involved in the title picture. People started turning on him for that very reason. The only difference is that Batista had issues staying healthy. He's actually missed quite a few Manias because of it if I recall correctly. If not him in the Title match then who? If your Vince McMahon how do you book your Rumble winner from now til mania. The obvious , and best, choice IMO is to go the obvious Batista vs Orton route. We know they LOVE Orton. And at this point WHO would be a fresher, more logical matchup? Definately not Punk or Bryan. Which we've seen 100 times in 2013 alone. Lesnars the only other name that pops into mind and he's certainly not working face.

I said nothing about anyone over taking Cena's position as the most beloved, by the masses mediocre. It's irrelevant. Bret Hart & Undertaker were never considered the man, but they were better than Hogan was in those respective periods. Whether we're discussing early 90s WWF or compare Undertaker in late 90s WWF against Hogan's WCW run during the same years. Undertaker proved his superiority in spite of not being the focal point.
The proposal that being "The Man" is anything besides the proof that coporate supports you, & exemplifies your capacity to play puppet master with the airheads holds no water.
When did we see Punk & Orton square off in a feud or series of unrelated matches? The entire stint of Punk's title reign saw Orton in one match for Sheamus's heavyweight championship. Since then we've seem Orton become WWE champion, but there were three champions between Orton & The Second-City Saint.
The only reason I couldn't see Punk filling the spot is his apparent condition. He hasn't seemed 100% for several months since his return in Chicago. 93% at the highest since his Summerslam bout was tremendous.
To conclude, Batista would be a good choice to put Orton over & get him more heat before he loses it to Bryan later this year. BUT... that doesn't mean he "deserves" it.

To me, the most appealing of all the title scenarios is still Bryan/Lesnar. Bryan wins the Rumble, Lesnar wins the title at Elimination Chamber. Then you can still roll with Orton/Batista if you want, but keep the title out of it.
Lesnar/Bryan would have a Lesnar/Guerrero feel all over it, and that feud (and match) was fantastic.
The only problem it presents is where to go with The Undertaker. Of course, if I had my way...
Bryan/Lesnar Undertaker/Cena Triple H/Punk Orton/Batista
That's pretty damn stacked. It's hard to arrive at the Taker/Cena conclusion, so, in an alternative scenario if Hogan is indeed coming back...
Cena works with Hogan to face whoever. Real Americans, Wyatts, whatever. It doesn't matter who they face, it's just going to be a beat down.
Undertaker faces The Shield in some capacity, be it a 3-on-1, a gauntlet, whatever. Not every single Undertaker match has to be a 5 star classic, and he's got plenty of history with them already. His mind games could lead to their inevitable break up, too.

are you ing kidding me Daniel Bryan is not in the rumble match. yet the Usos, r truth, Kofi Kingston, Fandango, The Miz, Xavier Woods,Damien Sandow Harper and Rowan are. is this a joke. Pretty sure he was in the match graphic for the rumble match... Sadly I don't think Bryan was in the graphic. I remember seeing Axel, Ryback, PTP, Real Americans and I think Slater and Mahal was in there too (No Mcintyre). So that leaves one spot which should be for Bryan. Anyone got a screen shot of the graphic? Doesn't WWE usually put random people in the graphic who doesn't even end up in the match?

I'm also kind of curious about Batista/Del Rio. Is it just a one-off kind of thing to get Del Rio some heat? Batista is in the Rumble so no match there, have to assume he'll be in the EC, and I don't think they'd carry it out all the till Wrestlemania.

Truthfully, I wouldn't be surprised if we'd already seen the last of it. Batista laid out Del Rio with ease last night. Maybe a blow off match on Raw or something, but I don't expect it to go much of anywhere. Del Rio hasn't had any momentum since losing the title (hell, he barely had any with the title.) I just can't imagine them even going to Pay-Per-View with it.

I gotta agree with everyone else in this thread Batista doesn't deserve to be in the main event of wrestlemania XXX. There are at least 7 guys that deserve it more then he does and the reaction he got last night proved that. Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, John Cena, even Randy Orton deserves it more then Batista does. And if were counting part timers then Brock and Taker deserve it as well. But certainly not Batista when Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and John Cena have been around the past 3 years busting their asses and all got better reactions last night then the returning Batista.

The proposal that being "The Man" is anything besides the proof that coporate supports you, & exemplifies your capacity to play puppet master with the airheads holds no water. Wrestling is all about "playing puppet master with the airheads" as you put it. And you know who is good at doing that? Daniel Bryan. That is what makes him such a talent.
