Jesse and Bobby are the top two no doubt.
As for the best between the two, right now I'll say Jesse but tomorrow I might say Bobby. It really depends on the mood I'm in as to which one I like better.

Jesse has pretty much always been my favorite. I felt that he brought some good insight while having a high level of charisma that percolated though the broadcast. He had a great voice and he did a great job as a "heel" commentator playing opposite Gorilla Monsoon. For my money, the two of them were the best at their respective roles, and the best together.
I think Jerry Lawler was good for a while too, but he's sounded awkward for a long time; totally unnecessary to the current broadcast.
I totally get why people say Bobby, and although he certainly had his moments, he just made too many jokes which I found distracting to the story being told in the ring. Also, his WCW years were awful; not only did he continuously make obnoxious jokes, but a lot of what he added was nonsensical. On top of his lack of chemistry to Tony.

Jesse is the best no doubt, he could a match you didn't care about watching entertaining and provided logical rebuttals. Bobby, while entertaining, seemed more concerned in getting himself over with laughs and ignored in ring action far too much. That always bugged me, lawler does it too.

I'm quite happy to see The Rolling Stones' favorite former bodyguard getting some love. My one trepidation to Ventura has to do with his less than admirable views... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . From his Portland Days. Watch. This. In all seriousness, anyone know of the experience that made Ventura take such a dramatic, change in direction? Great video, & if you are talking about Jesse's political views, well what can I say other than he woke up.

It was footage shot before his big break, he stated he would be in the business two years, then retire. Yet here we are a near 30 year career as a wrestler/then commentator & a Hall of Fame induction later.

Random note to the thread: I'm just realizing Ventura & Heenan were inducted as part of the same Hall of Fame class. This is particularly weird, considering how heavily I've prided myself on knowing WWE's Hall of Fame "cover to cover" if you will.

Ventura was such a brilliant heel commentator and would've been an excellent opponent for Hogan as scheduled..damn shame he got sick.

This one is quite difficult. Gordon Solie. He just had "it". His voice, his mannerisms, his interaction with the wrestlers. He had it all. He was in no way an athlete, but I will bet dollars to donuts that 99% of the wrestlers who were in the same company as he was had the utmost respect for him. I believe if you were a wrestler & had Solie call one of your best matches, it made it that much better. Bill Mercer. I'm being quite biased here. He was the voice of World Class Championship Wrestling, and I liked WCCW over the WWF, AWA & NWA. I mean no disrespect to him, but (to me) he was a small version of Gordon Solie. Once you heard the voice, you knew the wrestling was going to be great. I am generally the first to advocate Solie's importance to the casual fans. (I also adore his writing) I must ask though. How does Gordon Solie qualify as a color man? Is there a difference between color commentator and announcer?

Is there a difference between color commentator and announcer? Of course. The requirements are significantly, different. Both jobs bring their own, particular set of skills to the two-man dynamic in the booth.

I didn't actually speak for the two hours, & 37 minutes I spent writing/editing(failing to proofread until the last minute) opening article, so I have no idea what you mean.

Paul Heyman was the best I've seen since I started watching in 1998. Played a heel without detracting from what was happening in the ring. May have helped that he had the best PBP man of all-time, JR.
Worst? Taz. Not even close.
