You just explained why it is broken. So how can it not be broken. House shows or SmackDown? LOL, Both

Terrible idea. It's either turning a house show into a TV taping with the full lighting, entrance and production setup (which would all be expensive and pointless)... Or it's filming a house show without those things, and putting it onscreen where it looks bad in comparison to WWE's usual production values.

House shows are fine the way they are now. For Smackdown, I'd do my best to re-instill what made it great in the early 2000's. It needs its own Heavyweight title, guys in the mid-card who can bring the house down, and not be on a sh***y network on Friday nights.

The occasional MAJOR house show, like MSG Supershows, sure. A nice throwback to when house shows would air on MSG Network. Anything beyond that? No.

Are the bells and whistle REALLY that important. Is that what you look for in a WWE show or is the actual wrestling what you look for? The bells and whistle mean absolutely nothing and really are useless. You're there to watch Pro Wrestling matches not the bells and whistles are you not?

It would be cool if they did that once a month or so. Live from MSG or some other place.

I think the big MSG shows would be great on the Network. I too would've loved to have seen the Rhodes vs Americans cage match.
Every week though? Nope. Right now they do the same matches at every show and I don't think the depth is there like in the 80s to change up the cards enough so that they would still draw and not be repetitive.
I also don't think it's cost effective unless they were going to do barebones production which I also do not see them doing.
I don't think it's a bad idea, I just don't think it's the best idea right now.

As others have mentioned I'd like to see MSG house shows air but the WWE would never air all house shows. I also wouldnt mind seeing classic house show matches that have never been seen I certainly would love that.

Half the roster in WWE can't work a real match. They have to have everything laid out for them and practice it a hundred times on the house show loop first. Back in the 80's, guys could have different matches every night, because everyone knew how to work. Granted, even back then, lots of guys had the same matches on the house show loop, but guys were still able to adapt more. These days, what you see on RAW and Smackdown is typically after these guys have worked it out several times... And it still usually sucks.
If the final paper is garbage, imagine how bad the first draft is.

House Shows on the Network would ruin the fun of going to a House Show. It's an exclusive event, and overseas, it's something really special. Too repetitive, too, they also would NEVER have the belts change hands.

I think a problem that would come up is that... people already complain about things like "We've seen Bryan vs Orton 5 times the last 6 months" or Cena vs Orton.. again....
think about what it would be like when you see them against each other on TV for the 15th time in the past 6 months... and now they try to sell it at a major PPV...

This would cost so much for the WWE to do that it would raise the cost of tickets AND the WWE network.
Not worth it.

I like the concept because I miss the old videos that were mostly matches taken from house shows and tapings (but not shown on TV)
Sadly,I agree with others that it wouldn't really work the way they do shows these days. Maybe if they did more MSG shows, as those are usually pretty big still, but otherwise it would just be the same stuff we're already seeing on TV.

That would defeat the purpose of a house show.

You start televising house shows regularly and they become TV shows.

I think a stripped down wrestling shows would appeal to hardcore wrestling fans. But the audience that would be interested would be very small. Most fans have been conditioned to WWE style of wrestling in terms of style and presentation. WWE has a wide appeal because of the bells and whistle (entrances, dynamic camera angles, flashy graphics etc.) It also seems like the WWE is trying to make house shows similar to the TV product; they upgraded the entrance ramp, their are angles, pre-taped segments.
As far as pure wrestling, I enjoy house shows over tv tapings - longer matches, midcard wrestlers, no commercial breaks or long interviews. I would probably also need commentary during the matches.
I like the idea of broadcasting MSG shows. Maybe they tape one match highlighting a superstar that doesn't get airtime on the big shows.

I think it could work but not if it was every weekend. If they did house shows on TV once every few months(like 4 times a year) in major markets like New York City, Chicago, Philly etc. I think it could be cool every now and then. Nobody is gonna stay home on Saturday nights and watch a WWE House Show, at least not on a weekly basis. They already have so much programming and will have even more once the Network launches. They don't "need" to do anything as no one will order The Network because of house shows. However, like I said if it's a special every now and then I can see it working. With that said if they were to do something like this they would most likely just bring back Saturday Night Main Event.
