Is it normal to feel really calm? When my mum got home last night and I knew that it had happened, I just stopped being upset and just became very calm, I'm even thinking to myself how/why am I being so calm? My girlfriend was saying that its probably a form of shock/way of dealing with it. Everyone has a different emotional response, which means even though the stages of grief present themselves in everyone, they present themselves differently. Your calm is probably a form of denial, in this case an emotional one rather than a factual one. The healthiest thing you can do is indulge yourself in each stage as it comes. Right now, if you're in a calm, just be in a calm. Don't beat yourself up about it; it's natural. When you get angry, scream. When you're sad, cry your eyes out. It's when people try to control their emotions during grief that they actually prolong the experience.
