Pretty simple question. Could Mick Foley have beaten the streak before it really got started?
He has one of the better win/loss records against the Undertaker. Their rivalry really put Mankind on the map and if they had faced off at WrestleMania could Foley have stolen another win from the Taker?

maybe.
he would have faced UT at WM13 or 14 for this to be possible and the streak wasn't even a thing then.....so ya never know. Vince only started on about the streak at WM17/18.....and even then it wasn't really a thing

It's possible. Nash was booked to beat Undertaker until he left for WCW though.

Honestly, even before the streak, the only guy I could see beating Undertaker at WrestleMania in the late 90s is Stone Cold. Maybe Kane could have done it at XIV, but I think it was for the best that Undertaker won that one. Kane should have gotten a win back at some point, however.

I'm not sure.
I mean, Kane had two chances, HBK had two chances and HHH had three chances.
I feel Mankind was Undertaker's greatest rival and it was a HUGE deal at the time when Mankind started pulling out some convincing wins against Taker. I could see it happening if the circumstances were right.

Timeline would never have really worked. They wrestled a lot in '96, so the only way they'd have fought at WrestleMania would have been Taker finally getting his decisive win over Mankind at WrestleMania 13. After that, they were more kind of "we need something for Undertaker this month" kind of matches that were just thrown together, rather than big WrestleMania-level feuds.

Diesel was going to feud with Shawn over the Summer for the title, he was booked to go over Undertaker at WM but when he told Vince he was going to WCW Vince rebooked the match to have Undertaker go over.

How cool would a story have been in like 98 where taker beats Cactus Jack at the Rumble, Taker Beats Dude Love at the Feb PPV, and then Mankind comes out and challenges undertaker

Anybody could beat the streak it's all about booking. However, Mankind would of been the most believable to do so.

I was just thinking about this and the only year it could have happened was 1997 @ WM13 when the Mankind character was doing so well against UT.

This is most viable, but then Taker was getting the strap after 6 years. Tricky where it could go. Mankind vs Taker at WM15 wouldn't have been the same, much rather 1996 boiler room dwelling heel Mankind vs purple Undertaker

Could have even happened when Mick Foley "Retired." Instead Foley was used to elevate Triple H heading into WrestleMania 2000
