If we really want to age me - I created my first character (Chalice) over at the WFWF's precursor AFRWF, Was this on WFIGS or another site out of interest? Would be interesting to have a look at some of the old shows if the evidence still exists.

Would be interesting to have a look at some of the old shows if the evidence still exists. AFR, which was WFigs precursor. I'm sort of glad it's been lost to the sands of time - I could not write fiction to save my life. The name Chalice came from this AWFUL cover band that came to my high school in the winter of 2000 to do an assembly about how drugs are bad. Their complete wannabe rock star schlock performance was compounded by the fact that I'd been out all week with crippling pneumonia. The school had a rule that if you weren't present for the school day, you couldn't participate in extra curriculars that day. I had just joined the school band and wasn't going to miss my first performance which was that night, so I took 3x the reccomended dose of DayQuil, stuffed the rest in my bag, and spent the day in a haze dodging the school resource officers. The character was TERRIBLE. I couldn't tell you what his gimmick was, but I used a ST/Iowa era picture of Corey Taylor from Slipknot as his pic base, so I guess his gimmick was he wore a mask. In lieu of actually writing out the action (Chalice does this, Chalice does that, etc), I used varying pictures of Corey on the mic in between spoken segments to sort of track his movements. This worked because the approach back then was a lot more "promo cut on stage" than the style we all use now. Another guy, Ice Dogg, did the same thing, using pictures of Tupac. I'm not sure who copied who, but when it boils down to such an inane cop out, does it really matter? God, did I think I was King Sh*t of F*ck Mountain, though. I had this little Titan Tron image with a graphic I whipped up in Paint that I started alllllll my rps with and I surprisingly won a lot of matches and even a title once I think. As anyone who hits thirty will attest to just about anything they did at 15 - it was awful.

I'd say thank god they're lost to the sands of time, but there was nothing to be recovered anyways. The typical roleplay amounted to the length of about one segment of an ECW Pulp Fiction montage. somehow I still became the tag team champion there.

I dug out The Hour of Reprisal again this morning. Not only did I find a theme song for a pipedream return (and Trust Nobody came from this album already) but I found a song that'd make a badass PPV theme.

The last theme I used for Brennan came on during my commute the other day. Any time I contemplate a character, I way overthink the entrance theme, and I always wind up 2nd and 3rd guessing myself. David Brennan has had too many themes as it is.
"Never Alone" by Dropkick Murphys - I went with this one 'cause I had a very basic framework of this working class skinhead character from the get go, and little much else. I'm very happy that I didn't stay contained within that very limited box.
"Whiskey Will" by Darkbuster - this was the best theme song for DB, and the one I'll most often associate with him. I switched this up once DB succumbed to his demons and aligned with The New Epoch. The chorus has always said it to me here: "if she don't kill me, the whiskey will". Perfection.
"Romper Stomper" by The Transplants - this one, lyrically, was the least relevant, but I loved the sound of it, and had started using Skinhead Rob Alston as a pic base, and just wanted to go in a different direction.

Do you guys code your RPs after you write them or what? I do that and it's just a pain.

Do you guys code your RPs after you write them or what? I do that and it's just a pain. I used to code as I went until I began writing exclusively on my phone. Most recently I write the piece, then go through and code. I do it in batches, so if all Brennan's dialogue was green, I'd do all that, then other characters, then actions, etc.

Do you guys code your RPs after you write them or what? I do that and it's just a pain. Do you have Notepad by chance? It's a lifesaver if you do. Here's why. <When you write description or anything that's not dialogue that you want to format a certain way put these things in as placeholders in your RP exactly like this where you'd put the coding.> LLLBD: Leave your dialogue like this, don't code the name. When you're done writing and ready to submit it, copy your RP and paste it into notepad. Go to edit, replace. Top bar put: < Bottom bar put: whatever coding goes at the beginning for color or bold or whatever. Click replace all. Rinse and repeat for > for the end of the coding and it'll come out like you had already coded it. Then enter: Zoe: (or whatever character but keep the names uniform throughout, don't use Zoe: then later Zoe Schaffer:, same goes for all side characters) in the top bar. Bottom bar: CodingZoe:Coding Rinse and repeat for all talking characters. It's imperative you remember the : in the top bar though, otherwise it'll change every mention of the character to that code, so be careful with that. MASSIVE time saver. Allows me to code my RPs in 5 minutes. My SuperBrawl RP last time was 80 pages. Notepad got it coded that fast. It's also how I coded the shows, and why owners ask if you write a match to either code it yourself or to use the tags. Little cheap trick of the trade that makes life easier.

I'm reasonably certain there was a point Justin Tyme was changing his theme song every second show. My favourite though was Damage Case by Motörhead which is why it's what I've been using lately when Tyme comes out sans Crowe. I actually made a Justin Tyme's theme song version of Damage Case after one of the many times I left and came back where I started it like it was going to be Freeze Frame by J. Giels Band which I think I used before I had left but then it transitioned into Damage Case. Probably still have that on one of my laptops

I've already switched 3 times for Crowe but I'm feeling like this newest one is going to stick. First time I heard it I was convinced nothing else could fit him as a theme song.

I'm going to start writing my promo for No Remorse tomorrow. Any suggestions or pointers anyone can give? Read the RPs that were posted for this most recent show. 13 different RPs, 13 different styles. Will give you a good idea of what to look for moving forward with your piece. And ultimately just have fun writing it.

As far as themes, I've had three themes that I use for shows. Fight Music- D12 (2007) Perfect Strangers- Deep Purple (2014) In the City- Kevin Rudolf (Present) What I like to do is use a different theme for PPV's. Every PPV, I've used a different song. SuperBrawl: Perfect Strangers- Deep Purple Battle at the Garden: Evil Ways- Blues Sarceno The Clash: Good to Sleep- Eminem, DMX, Obie Trice End Game: Mosh- Eminem Sakura: Run Through the Jungle- Credence Clearwater Revival Showtime: Cinderella Man- Eminem I don't like to change theme songs a lot, but I do like to utilize a change in music to set a tone for PPV matches.

I'm 25. Been doing this for... actually, just too long. How I've put up with Shawn for nearly ten years is, in itself, the biggest question known to man.

I'm 25. Been doing this for... actually, just too long. How I've put up with Shawn for nearly ten years is, in itself, the biggest question known to man. You and I really are the last of that third generation wave. You, me, Reckless, Eagle, Possessed Child, Dean and Bish, really just you and me left with the every few month Bish return till he has to leave for classes again and Dean JUST came back. It's kind of weird to look at who was huge/important at the time and what happened. Schneider: Retired Kyzer: Retired Rev: Essentially retired CBT: Dead (don't ask new guys, long story) Thunder: Retired Yukio: Essentially retired Mike: Part timer E: Retired Drakz and Bren have been here long before us but Bren was gone for years and until this run, Drakz was never around long term after 2006. Christ we're old, Dale.

I've written mother f*cking five characters in this fed over the course of twelve years. What the hell is even wrong with me? After SuperBrawl I'll have 4 in 10. So I guess there's a record of yours I'm gonna have to break. Then again isn't Prog at 6 in 5? That's something I hope no one tries to break.

Full disclosure: after about 5 or 6 rps, I f*cking HATED my last character. It was a full blown experiment because I usually write things that spawn from the more negative aspects of my life and I wanted to try one of the positives, but f*ck it was so boring. That's why I wound up going full tilt trying to turn him into some sort of David Koresh type figure and even that just bored me to tears. If I had to fire up a competitive piece tomorrow from any of the five and you took David Brennan off the table right from the get go, I'd still whittle down to writing a new Smash Rodriguez rp before I ever f*cking touch Daniel Kirkbride again.
