Stand up:
George Carlin, Mitch Hedburg, Jeff Foxworthy [yes I said him], and Dane Cook.
My favorites, and who I would put on a stand-up Mt. Rushmore.

George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Lenny Bruce if we are talking stand up Bill Murray, Mel Brooks, Bill Cosby, Bob Newhart for general comedy/acting Bill Murray deserves a special platinum statue depicting him in a flat-cap, trench coat, flannel shirt with khakis & penny loafers, sitting on a bench with a look exclaiming the idea that he will never lose sight of the humor or the beauty in this big, beautiful ball of rock orbiting around the sun we call our living address.

George Carlin, Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby and I'm missing a few others.
I would never EVER put Dane Cook or Jeff Dunham on there. That's like saying The Miz and Santino Marella are some of the greatest wrestlers ever.

Joan Rivers, Rodney Dangerfield, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy. Really surprised no one mentioned Joan Rivers yet.

Joan Rivers, Rodney Dangerfield, George Carlin, Eddie Murphy. Really surprised no one mentioned Joan Rivers yet. But now you get to enjoy the historian points since you ensured our recognition of one of the greatest living female humorists & a quintessential stand-up/film crossover icon. Kudos!

This is even harder than doing a Mount Rushmore for any sport. Comedy is so subjective and varies so much between countries. I've only heard of Bill Cosby from Slappy's one, and I've never seen his work. For me: Jimmy Carr, Jack Whitehall, John Bishop, Michael McIntyre. Could not agree more about the subjective part. Especially since people are naming comedic actors in place of stand up comics. Very difficult thing to say.

There is no way not to include Charlie Chaplin, since at one point he was said to be the most popular man on earth. But it's difficult to mix TV/Film comedy with Standup. For TV/Film, I'd probably say:
Keaton Chaplin Marx Brooks

Really surprised no one has mentioned Bill Hicks yet. Personally I'd go for: George Carlin, Mel Brooks, Bill Hicks, Laurel & Hardy & Brendon Burns.
It's much harder to say just for pure Stand up. For that I'd have to go: Carlin, Hicks, Burns, Richard Pryor and then I'm stuck as there's a lot of people I like who shouldn't be in there and people that perhaps should but I immensely dislike (Stewart Lee springs to mind.) Although thinking about it Brendon Burns maybe shouldn't be in there but he's just my favourite stand up.

Few other art forms hold my obsession as much as Professional Wrestling. Sculpture, Jazz/Blues/Soul Music, Poetry, Magic, & above all, Comedy. With the death of Sid Caesar, I began contemplating his position in the historical rankings. This lead to my general So the question is quite simple. Who are the four most important personalities in all of English-Speaking-World humor.? I'll simply state various names that have strong evidence to support their claim as invaluable characters to the history of humor. Charlie Chaplin Groucho Marx George Carlin Bill Cosby Bob Newhart David Steinberg These are just the first 6 that came to mind. List your favorites, or those who you think we're the best in spite of your personal preference etc. for my personal mount rushmore of comedy I'd have to put Carol Burnett but there would be smaller, hidden Tim Conway on her somewhere (Carol Burnett Show is the funniest thing I've seen on tv) it's hard to say people on your list shouldn't be on there....most people will list other women ahead of Carol Burnett, but she'd be on there for me in the conversation...Steve Martin, Larry David prob wouldn't make the mountain but would be difficult not to mention

Especially since people are naming comedic actors in place of stand up comics. Very difficult thing to say. I was trying to come up with a collection of great, overall humorists. Think about the names I mentioned. Chaplin was a vaudeville performer turned icon of the cinema. Cosby was both a main-event stand-up comic & a pioneering television/film actor. I wasn't just referring to stand-up, but the general art of comedic storytelling as a whole. I wanted to give credit to great comedy composers of ancient Greece, but I couldn't recall any of their names. I wanted to include Abraham, because he pulled the greatest prank in history by inventing monotheism. He threw a pie full of tar in our faces. It won't wash off, no matter how much blood you pour on it.

I'm seriously horrified by the few times Laurel & Hardy have been mentioned........any comedy Mount Rushmore is absolutely incomplete without them.
also on a side note.... f*ck Chaplin.....the little prick.
I have quite broad tastes in Comedy so this is very difficult. but Stan & Ollie MUST be up there.

Easy, just 4 faces, 1 of Carlos Mencia, 1 of Sinbad, 1 of Daniel Tosh, 1 of Dane Cook.
But seriously, George Carlin, Bernie Mac, are two that come my mind immediately,

Disgusted it took so long for Richard Pryors name to come up.
Put anyone else on, but Pryor is a lock for standup
I think it should be categorized somehow. One person to represent standup, one for movies, etc.
Id go as far as to say Weird Al (Music). His records have sold unheard of numbers.
