There are others that have used the AskWWENetwork Twitter to see if they will take debit such as a Mastercard Debit card as a form of payment. They keep getting the generic response of being sent a link to their Q&A.
So does anyone actually know? Will you be able to use a debit card? Or do you have to needlessly open a Paypal account

If you had to open a Paypal account to access something, that would be the opposite of needlessly opening one.
The FAQ says: 8. How can I pay for WWE Network? WWE Network can be paid for with a credit card (e.g. American Express, Discover, Master Card, Visa) or through a Pay Pal account.
But used to say:

We'll find out Monday.

I don't know for sure. But if I were to bet, I would think they would accept them. Most businesses will accept them these days. They would, most likely, run it in the same fashion as a credit card. However with this being a new venture, there's no way of knowing yet. I'm surprised that WWE.com hasn't adressed this issue yet. Now this whole "you need an hdmi" cable for the ps3 stuff.......that's screwed me so far cause my tv doesn't have a port for an hdmi input............dammit.

What I meant by "needlessly" is that I shouldn't have to do so. Considering that they take debit for WWEShop, there shouldn't be a problem with taking it for the Network. With Paypal, you have to provide your banking account info. No thanks. Don't care how many people use it without any issues.

It might work the same way -- but WWEShop doesn't set up a standing order to take money every month. I don't know if that's the reason for the difference. Well yeah, otherwise it wouldn't be able to take the money. But if not having a Paypal account is more important to you (for whatever reason) than having the WWE Network, then I guess you just have to hope they will accept your card directly. They might. A lot of things about it seem unclear until Monday morning. I don't know for sure. But if I were to bet, I would think they would accept them. Most businesses will accept them these days. It's pretty much going to be exactly like Netflix. It will automatically take $9.99 a month out of your account.

We all know that, it's just concerning that they once had "credit card, debit, or Paypal" in their Q&A and have now removed debit. Just hope that they want us to assume that if they take credit they take debit.

The will be taking debit cards as well. Anywhere you can use a credit card you can use a debit card.

I ran into this trouble with a blu ray player that only ran off of an hdmi cable before too. I don't know why it is a necessity for the network to run, and hope there is some way around that.

I don't see how they could possibly disqualify the use of debit cards. Every debit card I've ever come in contact with can be used just as simply as a credit card. I use debut cards as credit everywhere (including any subscription service I've ever belonged to.)
Pre-paid stuff may be a whole different story, but I don't see how they could prevent people from using a bank issued standard debit card.

I wouldn't put my real debit card online. Not after our checking account was hacked a few years back when I paid for DCUC series 9 at CSC. Their system was hacked and they got our account information and they started using our account late on a Friday night they got us just under $1300. Luckily I caught it early Sat morning and was able to contact the bank or they would have cleaned it out over the weekend. Took about a month to get our money back from the bank.
Now if I buy anything online I have a debit card that is linked to PP via a totally different bank. I use it just for online purchases and there's never more than $5 in it except for the day that I plan on using it. Then I will just drive a mile down the street and add the funds needed for the purchase. This way we keep our real accounts off the internet.

Wait, who has a debit card that doesn't work as a credit card?
I'll never understand the resistance to Paypal. Paypal is safer than 99% of the places you use your personal information online. To each their own.

To each their own. Because Paypal takes higher fees then credit card companies. As well as Paypal will always side with a buyer not matter what in a dispute. Which is good for the few instances were buyers get ed over, but bad for sellers because Paypal won't make them return the item, but give them your money back.

So long as the Debit Card is a true Debit Card (containing one of the 4 Major Card Brand Logos on it) it can be ran as either a Online Debit or Offline Credit.
Online Debit refers to the Card Holder entering their designated Pin Number. Offline Credit (or Signature Debit) is when a debit card is ran as Credit Card, and the customer signs on the dotted line vs. entering a Pin Number.
Likewise, for businesses that don't give receipts for transactions under a certain dollar amount (also known as Quick Serve), those transactions are also considered Offline Credit/Signature Debit because a Pin Number is not entered.
In short, so long as it has one of the major card brand logos and isn't just an ATM Card, you'll be able to use it.

The best part is when they explain that you can use the AV Cables for the Xbox 360.

I can only assume the point of the video is that they're instructing people that are buying a PS3/360/Roku etc now to get the network and haven't used the device before.
