The will to win is greater than the skill to win. Jeter is an icon and icons go out on top. Be prepared for your icon to go out on the DL with a negative WAR. He's old, it happens, but he's not even serviceable at SS anymore. His Rdrs/yr is going to be atrocious this year if he makes it to 135 games. He's a mascot in the field at this point and every sabermetric under the sun supports it. If he breaks an .800 OPS over 135 games, I'll sport a Derek Jeter is the ruler of the universe sig until Spring Training of 2015. I get that you're a fan, and that you're excited, and Jeter deserves his swan song, but you're in for disappointment imo. Never say never in Yankee town. The Babes called shot, the babes last swing was a home run, Gehrigs last year was a championship. I can go on and on...

Better than you I like your moxy but you have to be realistic the East is a Beast. And honestly you would take the Yankees Staff over the Rays? Cause 1-4 the Rays are probably one of the best on baseball. Again I'm a huge Yankee fan ( and season ticket holder) but I'm not as optimistic as my Yankee brethren.

I love the Yankees but we'll still be lucky to get in the playoffs this year. The only thing about the Yankees that will be "hot" is their fan base as they realize we've spent another $200 million to get beat down by Angels/Tigers/Rangers or whomever decides to own us in the playoffs (if we make it) this time. If we cant draw the Twins in the ALDS then the A's in the ALCS...we aint gonna sniff a world series.

The will to win is greater than the skill to win might be the worst quote I have ever read.
Seriously. Get off the internet.

Also your welcome for Trout We would have used the pick that we spent on Grichuk on Trout anyways, considering he was the #2 ranked guy on our big-board behind Strasburg. And Pujols had a very good 2012 season ignoring his April.

He'll be 29 after his extension is up in 2021, which is 2 years younger than Pujols/Cano were before they cashed in FA.

Yeah, this is probably the best thing Trout could do. He'll get paid some good money from the Angels, then will get $200 mil or more in FA.

If I were him, I would test free agency after this season. This guy could get a 10 year 300 million dollar deal from the Yanks.

Yeah, this is probably the best thing Trout could do. He'll get paid some good money from the Angels, then will get $200 mil or more in FA. Yeah, we're going to buy out three of his free agency years at around 35m AAV (which would be his AAV in FA too). The 1 year/1m contract this year, plus the 6 year extension starting in 2015 will amount to around a 7 year/155m dollar contract. 4 years of his arb AAV, 3 years his FA AAV. He will be testing free agency? He'll be 29 after his extension is up in 2021, which is 2 years younger than Pujols/Cano were before they cashed in FA. Umm..yeah, I don't know what to say to this post (other than brush up on your MLB financial/FA knowledge). Plus, the Angels could afford a 10 year/300m contract as well (and that's probably what Trout will get from us in 2021 if he chooses to stay in Anaheim).

Winning almost two MVPs in a row, having the highest WAR, hitting above .300, 27 and 30 HR, nearly 100 RBI, all at 23, yeah, I would say this guy could get 20 to 30 million per year, or a Cano like deal at least, considering Trout is better than Cano. No way does he sign a deal like Ellsbury did with the Yanks, guy deserves WAY MORE, than 155 over 7. He is not even in his prime and has the chance to be one of the greats. You can know all about "market value" but when a team wants a once in a lifetime player who is putting up insane numbers in a big park, yeah, he will break the bank.

I'm not disagreeing with you at all here in regards to bidding wars or his value..I know Trout's value more than you do. The reason I said that you need to brush up on your knowledge is because you said ''he should go to FA next year'' which is not possible because he's arbitration eligible next year and the Angels control him until he's 26 even if they don't re-sign him to a 6 year extension this year (he's 22 right now). Trout is going to get 35m AAV in FA, easily. If he signs a 8-10 year contract he should have no problem getting 280-300m.

Read your posts, its like you are a Yankees cheerleader, or you are 12. Brady doesnt "will" his team to win, he wins because hes arguably the greatest QB of all time. Its a terrible comparison, but one I should expect from someone who the entire time has A. Totally disregarded facts B. Ignored anyone who disagreed C: Again, acted like a cheerleader You quoted Babe Ruth calling his shot as some sort of confirmation the Yankees will win this year? Seriously? If you are going to babble on about nonsense about the Yankees at least try to explain like a grown up why the Yankees will win, dont tell me about the will to win or about how Babe Ruth called his shot so that will make this years Yankees win. Seriously and you called me ignorant?

Trout will end up being the richest man in baseball. Well, after A-Roid retires.
