Since it's my 10,000 post (well, according to the ticker), I wanted to do something kind of special. What if Mattel ventured into the world of high-end Japanese figures? Companies like SH Figuarts and Figma create figures with 100% new sculpts and insane amounts of detail and sell them for a premium price. Like this, crazy detail and multiple interchangeable pieces MDT has said that one of his dream figures would be Kenta Kobashi, so why not create a small line to accommodate this? Mattel could create a small, collector oriented line to make figures of Japan's biggest stars. Base them around the existing parts that they already have, sculpting new parts where needed, throwing in things like extra hands and high quality entrance gear. These would be sold primarily in Japan, where the market is biggest for this kind of product and would be available through internet retailers like AmiAmi and HobbyLink Japan, while they could be made more easily accessible in America through Ringside. Price point would likely be around $30 or so before shipping, although they could do like Figuarts and Figma by individually pricing each figure based on how much they cost to produce. So if we were to pick 6 figures to get this treatment, I'd go with: Jushin Liger Kenta Kobashi Mitsuharu Misawa Great Muta Giant Baba (not the most exciting, but he'd pretty huge there... literally and figuratively) Masahiro Chono (maybe not the nWo version, but that'd be pretty awesome) Now those would just be the personal picks of an American fan with a passable knowledge of Japanese wrestling, I'm sure with a little research a major toy company could put together a better list. The market is definitely there for this kind of product and is currently untapped. It seems like every major franchise in Japan has a super detailed, articulated figure coming, but wrestling hasn't been touched yet. By using the resources that they already have available, Mattel could make a killing by jumping on the market.

Revoltech figures are expensive as it is. Even though I want the Woody from Toy Story they make, I would never shell out $70+ for a figure

Why doesn't a Japan based company make decent wrestling figures? I have wondered why there hasn't been anything new, considering the variety their companies pump out.

Why would Mattel specifically cater to the Japanese audience? Sure, they'd get a lot of buys, IN Japan.

Evidently, the companies that make the highly-detailed, articulated figures just don't think it's worth their while doing wrestling figures. Can't imagine that an American toy company, that most likely has an exclusive deal with WWE anyway, would see any sense in doing it.

I know they went through a down turn in popularity, but a company like Figma releases some strange (to me) figures. They do a lot of "one-offs", I'm surprised interest is so low that they never slipped in a popular wrestler from the past or present. Some of Figma's non Anime figures. A Japanese comedian, race care driver, and a gay porn star (I believe his name is Billy, seriously).

What in the world? The race car driver one is okay, but the bodies on the other two look so weird.

I can't unsee them.

I take back anything bad I've ever said about Mattel! Keep up the good work guys! (Can you imagine if Orton looked like this?! I mean seriously)

Congrats on the 10,000th post. Honestly I'd modify your request to have them do it more like Play Arts Kai figures. But honestly it would still have to be done with American Wrestlers, but you give them an anime/Japanese esthetic. It would work great for gimmicks like Undertaker and Goldust, but even doing an American Dragon Daniel Bryan. For those that don't know Play Art's:
