This is a terrible story and why I am always nervous about long flights on a plane, even though I dont travel too often. They havent found the wreckage and I am hoping for a miracle, but things are looking bleak

They havent found the wreckage and I am hoping for a miracle, but things are looking bleak I am hoping as well, but be let's real here. If they can't find the plane, then they won't find the passengers. I'm still amazed in this day and age how a plane can just vanish and have nobody know where it is. You'd think they would've kept tracking it all the way until they lost track of it. Once that happened, they must've had a decent idea where it was last tracked at.

Did you hear about how 2 people boarded the plane with stolen passports? There might be some foul play involved

Its in the water. I mean lets be honest, you're gonna know if a plane crashes into land. There's gonna be smoke & fire...even over jungles you're gonna see that for miles. Its clearly not still in the air, Im pretty sure it would have ran out of gas by now. The most reasonable choice is that its underwater and they just now have to find it & figure out how/why it went down.

You'd think they would've kept tracking it all the way until they lost track of it. Once that happened, they must've had a decent idea where it was last tracked at. The last recorded position is known. But whatever incident occurred would mean the aircraft would coast on residual speed. A 300km/hr jet doesn't just disappear and fall straight down to where it fell off the radar. The catasophic event would have occurred and it would have glided or accelerated downwards many miles or kilometers away from it's last known position. The 777 has sophisticated systems to communicate it's position as it goes on but whatever this event was, it must have prevented this from reoccurring. It's too hard to believe somethig want wrong without external intervention. Water is very deep too and the impact of collision on water is far worse than land. It's going I be very difficult and expensive to recover. And the black boxes are probably sitting kilometers deep in the ocean. You only have about 30 days to find it. I hope they do, we need to know what went wrong because it was something very very serious.

I still think it's freaking crazy how in 2014 we can lose a plane. We are watched through our Xbox's and our phone calls are being listened to, but we can't find a huge plane.

Satellite images of some sort of debris has been released by Chinese government. Rumor has it that it is not the plane though. They said the debris is too large in scope to possibly be the jet. So the better question is...what the do they have floating in the Sea of China that is larger than a jumbo jet? Jeez.

I am just dumbfounded by how a jet just disappears and nothing can be found. Even if it crashed in water, I would think some part would be floating and they'd be able to find it. And as Nivro said you'd know if it crashed on land.
I hope they find it soon and can tell us what the hell happened.

I'm not surprised really. The ocean is so deep, we haven't even explored parts of it. The ocean is terrifying.

How does an airplane just disappear into thin air? No evidence of a crash, it's clearly not anywhere it is supposed to be. It's that damn communist Barrak Obamma!!!! Benghazi.
[/right wing sarcasm]
In all seriousness, I send condolences to the families who are missing loved ones tonight and pray that this time goes aa smoothly as can be expected.
