I believe it was the night after Hell in a Cell when Cena won the world title... Not sure which day it was but it was against Cena.

Everyone should try and track down that match because it was such a great match.
Sandow showed some things I had never seen from him before.
That should have been the start of something good for him.

I agree with you on that. I will go on and say the WWE had plenty of good matches on RAW in 2013. Not so much on their PPV offerings. Glad I can revisit the John Cena/Damien Sandow World Heavyweight Championship cash-in on the WWE Network. Since nobody gave the exact date, it was on the October 28th, 2013 edition of RAW.

Thanks once I was told it was the Monday after HitC I watched it on the Network. I am now at Orton's celebration at the end of that RAW.

such a WASTE that was....as is a lot of guys who seem to have amazing matches with Cena then go on to do nothing but lose for the next year
Sandow's character was awesome. something that had potential to be great. not good. GREAT. and they have utterly DESTROYED everything good about that guy, he is nothing more than a generic heel jobber now. it's really depressing sometimes.

Sandow looked like a mother ing STAR in that match against Cena, despite losing in a crappy fashion. Such a shame that nothing ever came out of it. Biggest MITB waste to date.

Wwe should have pushed him, and have him the belt. Now he's an average mid carder

In hindsight it makes sense why he didn't win the title, but I'm still bummed about it.
Dammit.

WWE really dropped the ball on Sandow

Cena kicked out of every one of Sandows finishers and no sold a beating by del rio that would've sent anyone else on the roster to the "nearest medical facility" . Thus literally bringing Sandows career to a sudden HALT.
Yeah great match.

Yeah he basically did everything to Cena, to his newly-repaired arm if I remember correctly, except take out a chainsaw and hack it off and Cena finished him with an AA.
One of the major reasons I dispute the world title unification: guys like Sandow or Cesaro or Cody won't be taken as a legitimate main event championship threat because they're only going after the WWE Title. The WHC was a good way of testing guys in the main event.

It really showcased Sandow, but they dropped the ball with it. The more aggressive characteristic come have done something for him but with the way they went with it just did nothing. They also screw the pooch with him just losing all the time. him losing all the time could have worked if they showed that it was getting to him in a multitude of ways.

yeah, thinking about this again makes me so much more pissed off there is no more WHC. it was just a perfect spot for "guys who aren't good enough to be THE #1 spot but good enough to be considered main event"

WWE really should consider having Sandow wear the robe again. It was bad ass.

WWE really should consider having Sandow wear the robe again. It was bad ass. And the pink and purple. But that was to much character for a heel, wouldn't want him to get noticed, am I right? Black trunks and cut shirts for everyone!
