I had some ideas for comics, but I'm not great with scripting and story boarding, and I can draw a little but I'm in no way a talented illustrator. I basically have good ideas and need someone to fill in the specifics.

Been working on a manga slowly the past few months. Out of curiosity, are you handling both the writing and the art or just doing one of the two?

A writing partner is definitely something I need. I would love like a close three person group of me, a writer, and an illustrator.

If that doesn't work, start networking. I'm sure you can find someone that shares whatever your vision may be. I've found quite a few guys I've worked with over the years. Not that anyone really cares, but if you want to check out more failed projects from forever ago: steviethor.deviantart.com

I'm actually going to this specialty Comic Con type deal in June. I want to try talking to some writers there to see if they have any tips. When I went to Wizard World last year, some of the artists were giving my friend advise. Stuff like always walking around with a little sketch pad in your pocket and just simple stuff like that.

Been working on a manga slowly the past few months. Manga as in a juxtaposition of manga and comic book, or legit manga? I honestly didn't know the differences until I read Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics.

I tried over the years before I realized I was a terrible writer. Sometimes I would get these killer ideas but then ruin them with my hybrid knock-off of Brian Michael Bendis (look...listen...umm...this guy, this guy, see...) And Brian Azzarello (I'm going to say something then let it linger to the next panel.....Bam! Clever Pun) style of writing.
I've since rededicated myself to just drawing and then realizing that was awful too. Followed by a several year hiatus and now getting back on the horse and down to basics. Now I'm happy again.
Tooting my own horn, the pencil skills I had were sharp and immaculate, but so cluttered that Steven Platt, Tim Vigil, and Marc Silvestri would all agree my art was too damn busy.
I've been thinking this over and am adopting something more along the lines of Sal/ John Buscema, Ron Frenz, Graham Nolan, and even Walt Simonson. I am much more pleased with this approach, solid fundamentals without the noise and periphery.
I don't do comics anymore, but I am illustrating a collectible card game I've been developing for almost 8 years. And honestly, before that. Everything ccg related for me stems back to 1999 when I was in 8th grade and Pokemon was soaring in popularity. What I kept noticing over the years was how quickly I lost interest in making comics and would just go back to making cards. I never much cared for how Ccg's reward being rich and spending lots of money. I know its a business model, but as a kid from a relatively low income family I never had such a luxury.
The first game I made was pretty much Magic and Pokemon all rolled into one, but without the over powered cards, and with more balanced rules.
What I have been working on now is pretty complex. It's a hybrid tabletop/card game. I hope to have them professionally printed once I design the physcical cards. I have only written a journal with the rules, illustrated, and made mockup cards. I'm teaching my wife how to play it so she can playtest with me.
