 2005 I felt was an interesting year for WWE. we were still in the beginning part of the "Cena Era", Evolution had imploded leading to the rise of Batista, Orton had a disasterous Face run that nearly destroyed his career,Smackdown was the superior Brand, and the WWE seemed to be settling into it's next phase. Mania 21 came into this new direction for the WWE, and I personally feel it was a pretty good Mania! we had the ascension of Batista and a not-yet stale Cena to the top of the company, a rare heel-turn for Trish Stratus, a great encounter between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio, a HELL of a match between HBK and Kurt Angle, the most credible threat to the Streak,a surprise appearance by the Hulkster, and out introduction to the Money in the Bank match. that's not to say this event didn't have issues. the Big Show - Akebono match served no purpose and only devalued Show, the Women's Match was nothing to write home about,some of the Triple H - Batista Main Event was slow,and we got out first indication of what was to come when we saw "Super-Cena" appear after getting beat for most of the match. but overall,I enjoyed it. HBK-Angle and the MITB match more than make it a worthwhile card,the Orton's vs Taker angle leading up to and during the match was priceless,and the Hollywood theme was a novel and fun approach,and we saw the elevation of Edge to the Main Event before our eyes. it would,sadly,also be Eddie Guerrero's last WrestleMania appearance. Easily for me a top five Wrestlemania of all-time. Every match save the sumo and the womens (to an extent) was good to fantastic, not to mention we got a 4-star classic in HBK/Angle and one of Undertaker's best streak matches.

Angle/HBK is still my all time favorite WM match. Taker/Orton is highly underrated. MIB 1 was amazing, and Eddie/Rey was solid.
Overall, I'd put this WM in my top 10. If the main events were better it might have been right up there in the top 3.

Kinda makes you think how different Orton's career would have been if he had beaten Taker after hitting the Chokeslam-into-RKO.

This is the Wrestlemania that got me back into wrestling. Rey & Eddie had a classic and the 1st money in the bank was awesome, still love to watch Shelton run up the ladder with the clothesline on Jericho.

Angle/HBK and Taker/Orton were amazing. The money in the bank was nice too, Eddie vs Rey was alright. Everything else was blah.

Hogan coming out to help Eugene is one of my favourite Wrestlemania moments, plus JBL's police escort was brilliant.

Great Wrestlemania....no doubt. I always think back to the fans with the Irish Flag during Cena's celebration. Its great that you can see the Irish flag prominently at most WMs.
some thoughts......
Angle vs HBK.....WHOA. not only was it great but I never expected Angle to be booked to look so superior to HBK.
UT vs Orton....GREATNESS....man I thought Orton had it done MULTIPLE times lads.
Cena beating JBL was such a relief.....JBL did his job on top well IMO....its such a pity Cenas weakness were exposed almost immediately afterwards the JBL feud.
Batista vs HHH.....Yep I was pulling for Dave here BIG TIME and was delighted to see him beating HHH. Unfortunately without HHHs in ring skills to disguise some of his weakness's Dave soon began to flounder when moved to SD!.
but yeah all in all a very enjoyable WM IMHO.

Great event. The only matches that sucked for me were the big show match and cena/jbl. Hhh/Batista is underrated. It's not the most memorable main event but it was great seeing hhh get his comeuppance. Batista has always been an underrated in ring performer as well.
Just an overall great card that delivered in big ways. I was recently watching the edge DVD and it's amazing that he was against being in the mitb at first. That match changed his career big time.

Really good WrestleMania.
The world title matches weren't much in terms of a great match, but it was cool to see Batista and Cena win their first world titles. The bad stuff i.e. Christy/Trish and the Sumo Match were kept short, and there was 4 great matches in MITB, Eddie/Rey, Orton/Taker and Angle/HBK.

I really liked wrestlemania 21. Big shows match was different, that night cena became who he is today
Overall a very good wrestlemania. It helped aye the base foundation of what wwe is today

I was 6 years old and I was such an Orton mark. I remember going crazy when he countered the chokeslam. I still think Orton should have won

In my top 3 with 30 and 29. Taker vs. Orton is my second favorite streak match. Angle/HBK is tremendous and Batista/HHH was great IMO.

Definitely a WrestleMania leading the way for new generation of talent. Overal very solid card with the undercard overpowering the main events. This is one WrestleMania I feel ages well, even though its probably not one of top 5, top 10 for sure.
