Picked up Rikishi today... great figure - but why did they make his sarong red (instead of the black one he nearly always wore)? Was it to make him stand-out more or something? It just seems a bit of a strange choice... I cant actually remember him ever wearing a red one.  |

He did wear the red but I will agree the black was more common. Seems like mattel is still on that kick of trying to differ their versions of figures from Jakks. Aka Slaughter, LOD, Dusty, etc....

On a related note, how's it supposed to fit on him? I've tried HARD with no success. You need to place it slightly above the other lace strap, kind of by the ab/stomach area. |

I love the red. And it's in his most iconic attire IMO. Great great fig. Looking to be hard to find too.

yeah we had this discussion when the figure was released. i dont think anyone was able to find a picture of him wearing a red sarong with the yellow rikishi letters.
i would have preferred the black, considering we will almost 100% only get 1 figure of Rikishi from Mattel, when I look at it I want it to be in an attire I actually identify with...not another color because "oh it's bright and looks good"

As with most Mattel products, I'd prefer accuracy over "prettier". So I'll continue to pass on it any time in see it.

Felt the same way that red was rarely worn, though it does pop I wanted accuracy. For anyone that is curious if the R3 Rikishi sarong from Jakks would fit, below is something I tried. Used some black twist ties to hold it on his waist.  |
