Man I found those Acclaim Wrestling games to be unplayable, AKI games are GOAT tier in my opinion. Zero chance I posted that War Zone cover as a joke between me and my buddy KvE.

To this day I still think Revenge is the best American AKI wrestling game. While No Mercy gets more praise I thought Revenge had better a roster depth and move set. I felt the WWF had more brawlers in there games so a lot of the guys had the same moves. Revenge had the cruiser weights, Raven's Flock, NWO, and the rest of WcW's awesome midcarders. Each one of those categories had diverse wrestlers and move sets. I felt like the AI was better in Revenge than in No Mercy as well. Other than that, and if you have a Gameshark, Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 was AKI's GOAT.

There were far more moves in No Mercy than there were in Revenge. The AI in Revenge was better than No Mercy, no doubt. I loved the pre WWF AKI games because you had to kill a mother er to win a match whereas in the WWF games, the first finisher a couple of minutes into the match pretty much spells the end. I mean you had to hit four Jackhammers, rip the other guy's left leg off, say a few satanic prayers and listen to a Billy Ray Cyrus album just to get a near fall on a dude in Revenge.

Idk what game you were playing man. I used to kill people with Goldberg and Nash constantly. VPW2 on the other hand........let's just say I nearly destroyed my buddies computer a few times playing that one. Such an amazing game and nothing has been as realistic.

Honestly, if you know the menus of WrestleMania 2000, you don't really even need a translation for VPw2. The menus are by and large exactly the same.

The Acclaim WWF games that played more like fighting games than anything else were abysmal. I hated War Zone and Attitude.

I thought Warzone was terrible. So was the next one, but it wasn't quite as bad as Warzone. There was NOTHING better than the N64 games. No Mercy still holds up in spite of graphics. Hell, I still play World Tour and enjoy it. I loved to be guys like Benoit and Juvi in Revenge. Raven, Goldberg, Nash, Hogan, and Sting were some of my favorites to use, excellent animations on some of the moves, and today's games still can't touch their battle royals. Those were definitely the days in many ways.

I have no idea how that made it through playtesting but I'm glad it did in Revenge because I was damn near dead so many times in championship mode and I'd be all COME ON GOLDBERG YOU ING GOOF KICK OUT and then I'd just wiggle the stick like a goof and I'd kick out. I was playing Revenge on the hardest difficulty. You had to murder a mother er to win on that setting. VPW2 has the same problem as WM 2000 on a lot of days, I can't get long matches at all and then I'll play Awesome vs. Tanaka and go to a 30:00 draw and just sit there befuddled because Akiyama and Kobashi ended in 3 minutes on the hardest difficulty.

Cant say I ever played on the hardest difficulty. I played that game more as a youth so I didn't really care as much. Your right about VPW2 though. Hansen/Kawada id go over in five mins and almost be disappointed. Do another match right after with Misawa/Baba and go on forever. It's odd for sure. One thing is a guaranteed classic however and that is tag matches. I don't think i've ever had a tag match in that game go less than 10 mins.

I love tag matches in VPW2. I've had several 30:00 time limit draws.

I love tag matches in VPW2. I've had several 30:00 time limit draws. Thats one thing I haven't had happen yet. I've won and lost numerous tag matches within the last five mins but I've yet to experience a draw. I find playing the story mode the matches are usually a lot more competitive as well.

The only time I really have much trouble in VPW2's RRS mode is when I play as one of the shooters like Volk Han or Takada.

Who wants to play the same match for 30 minutes unless it's an iron man match?

Who wants to play the same match for 30 minutes unless it's an iron man match? I do, especially if the AI actually puts up a challenge and it takes me that long to win. Then again, I also like watching technical wrestling and hour long matches so clearly I'm the exception to the rule.

Who wants to play the same match for 30 minutes unless it's an iron man match? Who wants to play a match that lasts 2 minutes and is a complete job out where you hit 7 finishers?
