He physically fits the description though... I've been excited for this series... Pretty sure that's because Cena himself teased it... if this casting is true there is a zero percent chance I will watch the series because they obviously aren't taking it seriously.

Got around to watching Justice League finally. I didn't love it, but I wasn't exactly bored while watching it. It wasn't nearly as bad as people said it would be. I thought I'd like Ezra Miller's Flash more, but he was kinda the low point of the movie along with Aquaman. Wonder Woman was fantastic as always. Henry Cavill is a fantastic Superman. I just feel like I'm kinda over this outer worldly part of the DC Universe. CGI Batman took me out of the movie a lot, time to bring it back to the ground and have him fight henchmen and not aliens again. I doubt we'll see a Justice League 2, but if we do, they better bring Darkseid or else it will be a massive flop.

I finally was able to watch Justice League this morning. And for the most part I enjoyed it. The only thing I wish was different was how they addressed Superman's return. It wasn't bad, but I wish it was more in line with how it was in the comics. Also I wish that Aquaman/Atlantians didn't look like they were holding their breath in the water scenes. And I'm still not a fan as Amy Adams as Lois Lane.

This thread is dying a slow, painful death. And that sucks because WB has all the potential in the world.
I haven't seen JL and it sucks to have that feeling of never wanting to watch it.
They tried to copy the MCU formula that took 10 years to get IW. And WB clearly shot themselves in the foot.
Maybe Flashpoint can right the wrongs. But its still too early to have that be the story behind your first Flash film.

I genuinely despair at what is happening @ WB/DCs media division.
I have said from the get go (like many others) "what matter if DC copied Marvels formula?" If it yielded the $$$ results & fan adoration so be it.....copy away. Instead we got the inconsistent mess we got. Studio interference/expectations(something WB is infamous for) clearly played its part here too.
In all honesty the DCCU is all but buried now. The downturn predicted @ Marvel Studios by industry experts in favour of the different flavor of DCs offerings has not occurred as predicted...if anything MS is going from strength to strength. Black Panther is going to be a monster for a February movie.

I watched Justice League yesterday. Other than Flash, who is truly awful casting imo, I thought the movie was pretty good. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why they felt they needed to add that Superman scene in at the beginning of the film. It added nothing and once you know the mustache cgi is there you can't look away. Very strange decision.
Steppenwolf was under developed but that's a massive problem over at Marvel, as well. I think he came off a bit generic and that's where a tie to Darkseid probably saves him. I guess in that regard, everything kind of felt without consequence. It's not really DC's fault but it's more so that we've seen a surplus of "this guy is here to end the world" over the last decade. I mean can anyone not familiar with the comics tell me the difference between Ares and Steppenwolf?
Beyond that though, I liked that Batman drove the film and his humility with both Superman and Diana was refreshing. This is undoubtedly the coolest that Aquaman has ever been imo. Cyborg was exponentially better than I thought he was going to be and I loved that we got a Lantern in the flashback scenes.
I think the worst thing they can do right now is Flashpoint and recast. If they think they are struggling now at the box office, just wait until they blow it up and people care even less. Wonder Woman proved that all they have to do is make good movies. Hopefully Aquaman is on the same level and they finally get going on The Batman. They just need to commit to this thing. Keep trying and plugging away. I think JL was better than BvS and so at least there was improvement.

Apologies for this post being all over the map -- I have very mixed-to-negative thoughts on the state of the DCEU right now.
JL is terrible... I would call it a huge disappointment, but my expectations were so low going in. Warner Brothers, to their credit, appear to have learned at least some kind of lesson from the failed team-up movies.
Aquaman has either recently finished or is soon to finish some minor pick-up reshoots and will be the big Christmas release this year. Considering most or all of it will take place in Atlantis, it can be very self-contained even if it's technically in the DCEU continuity. James Wan is a great director and I have a lot of faith in him delivering as good a movie as Aquaman could be.
Shazam just started filming in Toronto over the past week or so, and I thought the casting of Zachary Levi was great. From his and David Sandberg's descriptions of the movie, I'm optimistic that it can be really fun, and it sounds like it'll also be relatively self-contained.
Hopefully WB makes another handful of these smaller solo movies before they try anything remotely resembling another full-on team up movie. The Flash's solo movie is going to be called Flashpoint, but I'm not sure if it will actually be a version of that story. Hopefully it's its own thing as well, but I have the feeling we'll be seeing at least some of Batman and Wonder Woman in it as well to help sell it. I think they hired really bad directors for it, but if the script is good then the movie might work too.
WB overhauling their DC films operations shortly after JL coming out is a positive first step and I'm cautiously optimistic that they'll right the ship somewhat with smaller solo films, but a big part of me is always going to be in "I'll believe it when I see it" for the DCEU. TBH I think Wonder Woman is the only good, not great movie they've put out so far.

Never liked the character in the comics or cartoons, but while he was still my least favorite in Justice League I did like him. So that was a plus. As for Flash I found him extremely entertaining in the movie, but the thing is he was supposed to be Barry yet all I saw from the character was Wally not Barry.

Most of the comedy missed for me. Like he was star struck and didn’t know how to save people. I thought it was a weird approach to make him the comedy sidekick.

Flash is one of my favorite characters.....I hated his portrayal in JL. I would have zero interest in his solo movie. I agree with Mizfit 100% about Aquaman & James Wan it has the most potential.

I see that Whedon has left the Batgirl movie over @ WB/DC. Seems to be admitting he couldn't come up with a story that fit into the already established verse......

Seems like a very scrubbed version of what happened. I'm pretty sure JL's terrible reception and that scandal about him as a womanizer both sealed his fate and they did him a solid by letting him help shape the narrative. I doubt a Batgirl movie is going to happen anytime in the next few years, but if/when it does, I hope they get a talented female director.

They really need not worry about 2nd tier characters like Batgirl right now anyway. While I personally enjoyed the movies, if they cant use their big names to create "box office smashes" then they dont need to be tinkering with characters that arent as popular.

While I personally enjoyed the movies, if they cant use their big names to create "box office smashes" then they dont need to be tinkering with characters that arent as popular. I'd go the opposite way -- they should be making movies like Batgirl and shoot them with like $50M production budgets. You can probably do Nightwing (currently in development) the same way, and other smaller characters like Green Arrow and maybe even Swamp Thing if they gave it to one of the effects-driven horror directors. Then they can spend the usual $100-150M to promote it and it'll almost be guaranteed to turn a profit. And if you can manage to actually make a few of those movies good along the way, you can rebuild trust from your audience and then you can get the big-budget Batman and Superman movies. Then if those are well-received as well, you can look at the mid-tier budget types like Green Lantern Corps, Flash, and that Blue Beetle/Booster Gold buddy cop movie. At least that's what I'd do.

I'm not a big Kristen Wiig fan (and I think she was part of one of the worst eras of SNL ever) but WB/DC has been right on the money with every single casting in the DCEU so far. I even think the likes of Eisenberg and Leto were well-cast but poorly written. I'll believe a swing and a miss on this when I see it. But to me the big thing is that we now know WB is full steam ahead on WW2, which is very good news.

Ezra Miller, Amy Adams, Cara Delevingne, Eisenberg, and Leto. I'm a big fan of Leto, but I still think he's a miss if his only outing as Joker is going to be SS. I still think 95% of his problem was his overall look. Great actors don't automatically make great fits for a role. Go back to 2008 and look at RDJ. That guy was born to play that role. Most of his roles throughout his career to that point were as the funny sidekick or the loser addict. He combined those skillsets and took ownership of Iron Man. I really haven't seen that from most of the cast over at DC, other than Gadot. Affleck hasn't gotten the chance in a solo film. It's good that they're moving forward, but there is a ton on the line with that film. I just don't see Wiig as an actress that's going to get people excited. The general response seems to be laughing or total confusion, which is kind of par for the course for DC to this point. That's frustrating for people who want to see DC turn this thing around.

I think there are three casting choices they absolutely nailed: Michael Shannon, Gal Gadot, and Margot Robbie. To me, the rest have run the gamut from whiffs to sacrifice flys to shoulder-dislocating swing-and-misses. Meanwhile over on the Marvel side, I've scratched my head at some of their choices and was then pleasantly surprised at the end result.
