I think it's pretty clear that Marvel demolishes DC on the big screen but DC is leaps and bounds ahead of them in tv shows. Gotham, Flash, Arrow, LOT, Supergirl etc

Laid up with a knee injury so I sat back and watched all the DC movies over the weekend. most were 2nd of 3rd watches. JL was my 2nd watch.
Man Of Steel Batman vs Superman(ultimate) Suicide Squad Wonder Woman Justice League
I find most of them ok to good but Justice League is absolute tripe. The dialogue alone is absolutely idiotic.....Its just a really bad movie. It really is.

Gotham, Flash, Arrow, LOT, Supergirl etc Punisher, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Runaways, Legion... I still like Flash but beyond that I’m taking any one of those shows against anything DC has to offer. I’m curious how Batwoman will turn out. I’m sort of indifferent on what I’ve seen of Ruby Rose. I’ll definitely give it a shot, though.

I still watch Gotham and am enjoying it a lot but I grew tired of the "syrup" in Flash, Arrow & Supergirl. I have dropped them all as of last season.

Only two I like are Punisher and Daredevil bc it had Punisher in it lol. Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Defenders all sucked for me. I've never seen Legion or Runaways. Even Agents of Shield was so hard to sit through. I think it was a bad choice to lop Daredevil in with the Defenders bc his show was actually fun to watch and now I don't watch bc his classmates are intolerable. I do love the PUNISHER though, so brutal and I'm a huge fan of the actor who played Shane in TWD. I'm more looking forward to starting Cloak and Dagger though honestly. EDIT: I do think it's crazy how Marvel on the big screen has never really been the "dark" franchise except the little glimpse now and again like the new Avengers with the ending and brutality of it. Yeah they did Logan and Deadpool but Deadpool was more of a brutal comedy action film than a dark brooding one like Logan. However on the small screen their shows are so dark that it actually seems hopeless sometimes for the characters and yet big bad brooding DC on the big screen has for the most part been way softer on the small screen.

There’s rumors right now that Warner Bros want Tom Cruise as Hal Jordan for the Green Lantern Corps movie. He would be an older, more seasoned Green Lantern that would mentor a young Jon Stewart on taking over the mantle of Green Lantern. There’s only thing that’s stopping Cruise from taking the role. Apparently he was told that his character would die in the movie and doesn’t want to take the role if that’s the case.

Hal is one of my top 5 comic characters of all time.....ah Jesus no. Also if this is the route they are going? where was Earths GL during the events of Justice League? Since its established firmly the Corps are out there & Jordan is gonna be older? Where was he when the forces of Apokolips attacked Earth....it was clearly a cataclysmic event with cosmic blowback. Too many holes.

If you have to spend the first half hour of the movie explaining why stuff didn't happen in ANOTHER movie, you're not movie-ing properly. I'm starting to wonder if they're tricking us with those good trailers for Shazam and Aquaman. The trailers were damn good...watch the movies bite.

I think Shazam will be less impressive than the trailer shows but Aquaman will be good I feel. Wan has stood his ground & not allowed his movie to be cluttered with universe building or studio interference. In fairness he walked over creative differences & returned.

It is funny how he got stuck with Jason Momoa, I bet Wan would've liked to have picked Authur and Mera. I feel the same way with Patty Jenkins as Gal Gadot.

The most interesting part of the Momoa stuff to me is that he allegedly auditioned for Drax in GOTG and Marvel wouldn't pay him what he wanted, and Batista was much cheaper. I think it's for the best, because Batista is incredible, but that's an alternate timeline I'd love to see.

Yeah its a weird setup......You have to make the movie with title stars already chosen & debuted elsewhere....not obviously its happened before but its gotta be strange for a director.

I know this thread is dying a slow and cruel death, but I read that the DC streaming service will be $8.99 a month.

Cavil is reportedly out as Superman. Being as he has as much charisma as a white wall, I’m a okay with a recast I feel the opposite... I think he is an extremely charming, charismatic actor but his Superman was written overly dark and dull. He would be great as a Christopher Reeve type of Superman but that wasn't what Snyder and company wrote for him. That said, I also think his Superman has too much baggage after three disappointing movies, and since Superman movies just generally don't have a history of profitability, I'd be hard-pressed to see WB investing $200M+ in another go around with Cavill. He's probably more suited for James Bond anyway, so maybe that will be a possibility in the next couple of years after Daniel Craig retires from the role. Shame, since Cavill and Affleck are two of the best castings ever but their characters were poorly-written and squandered before either could get off the ground.

I liked him. I though he was a good superman. I wonder how DC will proceed. I don't think there was a new superman movie in the work anytime soon anyways. Maybe they will recast? It's a shame with the DC movies. So much potential but it seems like it's always something. Time will tell I guess.

So much potential with the DC Movie Universe but its getting pissed away one poor decision after another. A Superman recast is BIG news.....I'd say Cavill couldn't wait to get away from the role to be honest.
For the record I enjoyed him as Superman in MOS but was confused at his portrayal in BvS & the less said about JL the better. He was one of the better pieces of casting but the storyline of BvS was ill conceived and done ZIP for him.
I have always said MOS 2 & further development should have followed. WB wanted 2 much too soon....
Synder started off making MOS 2 featuring Batman in a minor purely introductory role.
Then he was making Batman Vs Superman
Then he was making Batman vs Superman featuring Wonder Woman
Then he was making Batman vs Superman also starring Wonder Woman and doing The Death Of Superman storyline. Oh yeah and introducing the other members of the proposed JL too.
when you look at it? Its INSANE.

I live look in over at WB's DC Films department: Cavill was written way too dark and gritty when he's supposed to be a beacon of hope, better than humanity, character. Affleck exiting as Batman really ruins the entire thing for me, though. All I wanted out of this was a solo Batman flick with Affleck. That's it. One movie. We're not even getting that film. WB sucks a fat one. Michael B Jordan is being lined up as the next Superman. So they're undoubtedly going Multiverse to move away from the previous 3 films. I'm at a total loss for how they ed this whole deal up so badly.
