I'm actually currently re-watching ASM, right now. And I'll agree with Joker...if you really, really didn't dig this one, then probably save your cash...HOWEVER -- there's a very noticeable difference between ASM, and ASM2, to me. As far as tone. Marc Webb and Co. improved exponentially between the two films. At the very least, it deserves a Red Box rental when it comes around. At the VERY least. Maybe I'll catch it on the sky player in a few months when it's up. Ah yeah, that's right. Europe has different things than we do. Either way, I'd really recommend at least giving it a chance if you're a Spider-Man fan, at all. But I still agree, don't bother spending theater prices, if you really disliked the first.

I think the SS has been set-up perfectly. The small flashes in the OsCorp building are great teasers, but the way they build Spidey is great. Have him beat up the guys and hold his own, but don't have any villains humiliated and keep them alive.

As I've been thinking, I hope if they bring MJ in, it's as a classmate for Peter in college, and have him dating Flash for ASM3... But not a love interest. Let him get involved with Felicia Hardy, and turn her to Black Cat. Then he has to deal with losing Gwen, his next GF going to the dark side -- and a super model quality potential love interest, who's dating a -- friend -- of sorts. That's how I'd do it, anyways. I guess they'll also use some of the footage they shot and cut from this movie.....unless then do end up re-casting Mary Jane.

Yeah, I heard they had gotten into shooting some stuff with Shailene...after seeing the movie, I'm glad they cut whatever it was. I like what I've seen her in, so far, but that would have definitely been too much in this particular movie. Stone deserved for the movie to focus on Gwen. And while I think she's lovely, I really do. She doesn't strike me as "super model" which is what MJ is supposed to be. She's certainly a class or two up from Dunst, in my opinion, but as Killscene said, with her being busy with Divergent...meh. They want a high-class redhead...Rose Leslie. Ygritte from GoT. Get her a dialect coach, have her get a NY accent going. Boom.

Well Spidey had a great opening day on Friday in the U.S. It earned 35.5 Million.
add international totals and it already has 195 Million earned.

I always got the impression Mary Jane was the girl next door and nothing special. Hence why Peter was able to obtain her. But I primarily keep up with Ultimate Spider-Man which this movie line is mostly based on character wise. But eh, I heard they didnt have great chemistry and she will be busy so a recast wouldn't be horrible. I just hope they dont get a girl who looks like a 28 year old supermodel. Mary Jane should be cute, not hot.

Just got back from seeing it and I loved it, can't wait to add this to my Blu-Ray collection. My only problem was that they changed the suit. I thought his suit in the first movie was better.

Saw it tonight. I liked it a lot.
Special effects were really well done and I like Garfield a lot more as Spiderman in this movie.
I didn't like the treatment of Rhino and Green Goblin. Norman Osbourne got no time as Green Goblin, which blows my mind. Harry was like dark and moody the whole time. I remember Harry being fun and happy most of the time before the Green Goblin stuff started. Also I had trouble telling if his suit was green or grey. His skin wasn't green. He was more of the Kinda Yellowish Goblin.
That Rhino suit was kind of awkward. They should have had a bigger guy play Rhino and have like armored enhancements rather than an entire robot suit. I think they should have saved Paul Giamatti for Doc Ock. I think he could pull it off. He's a great actor and he's kind of small and pudgy.
Other than those two things, I really liked the movie. I was expecting to hate Electro, but I ended up liking the treatment. I especially liked the stuff with him wanting to be noticed.
The death of Gwen was nuts even though I knew it was coming. There were a lot of people in the theater talking throughout the movie, but everyone went silent at that moment. It got to a point where I was half expecting them to not kill her and then it happened. I like that I was surprised even though I was familiar with the story.

Saw it for the 2nd time. Wasn't AS impactful the 2nd time (but what movie is) was still very, VERY good.
The story/plot/pacing were much better the second time. It all made more sense once you start noticing the little things...
My favorite new thing on the 2nd viewing was that as Gwen fell, and he shot the web, the end of it formed a hand shape as it reached for her. Of absolutely no consequence, but a nice touch. Anyone else see that?
I liked Giamatti even more this time around, and DeHaan after becoming GG, too. I can't wait for the next flick. As for Norman getting any chance of being GG -- until I see a body, I don't believe he's dead. He's Norman Osborn, he can do pretty much anything he wants. It's a comic book movie. This version of spidey/GG -- Harry is the anti-thesis. Not Norman. So I'm alright with them making Harry the first GG. Made that final scene that much more harsh.
"You don't give people hope; you take it away. Well, now I'm going to take yours." -- and the next time anyone watches it, just watch GG's facial expressions as it dawn's on him that SM is Peter...DeHaan seems like an actor that works well with the details. I'd hate to make the comparison this early in his career -- but REALLY reminds me of Gary Oldman, in a lot of ways.

Yeah Norman isn't dead just in hiding letting things play out......and Hardy is acting on his behalf as his agent. No doubt. there's NO WAY she overheard that talk about the "venom". Osborn told her to plant the seed with Harry.
I'm also very impressed with the use of Gustav Fiers & the fact he was the post credit guy in ASM. he is clearly Normans right hand man.

My only issue with the Norman's alive theory (which I agree with, right now) is -- why? However, in asking that, my initial thought is this. Norman knows Harry and Peter were friends. In the clip that wasn't in the final movie you have that "Oscorp has been watching/following Peter" bit when he and Harry are talking...he beckons Harry back to say his final piece...but what he's really doing is using his ace in the hole to get close enough to Peter to make it happen. Norman's not a risk taker, he's calculated. He never would have went into Special Projects and just injected himself like Harry did. It could lead to Norman eventually becoming the marauding/monster GG of the Ultimate comics, which would require Spidey/Harry to team up to stop him...could provide a very interesting angle, as how does he get past Harry leading to Gwen's death, etc -- can he put it aside to stop what may be the most powerful villain he's ever faced (thus ultimately keeping Norman his pinnacle villain)...by then you'd have Black Cat to lend a hand, as well, I'm sure... Let's not forget we still have Venom/Carnage, Kraven, Kingpin, Doc Oc -- that's another 4 spider-man movies right there. Not counting S6 for one. Boom. The friend I went with last night, that was his main issue. "Where else can they go?" -- there are PLENTY of good stories that can still be told. It's just a matter of consistently finding the filmmakers/talent to tell them. Drew Goddard taking on S6 is an amazing choice, in my opinion. Webb will be around for at least one more Spidey outing... They can continue to be consistently good stories, and even IMPROVE -- if they find people passionate enough. :cough: right here, Sony :cough:

Turns out there's a funny story behind it (Marc Webb on it): Well, it was an interesting thing that happened. He shoots the web. And I remember talking to one of the animators who is in charge of the webs, and I was describing how I wanted it to sort of move. The camera is here and it’s going to pass right by us. And I was like, “It’s going to unravel like this!” [Webb demonstrates by unraveling his fingers.] They watched me do that [with my hand] and they thought I meant it literally. So, they took a video of it and then they actually made it into a hand. And I hadn’t thought consciously about that. But, that’s what emerged.

I just assumed it was an effects artist that had a good idea, as it usually is. However, I'm glad to know that Webb pays attention to that much detail. You really want to see someone who pays attention to detail, I recommend picking up the Pacific Rim BD, and check out their little making of bonus feature. Del Toro is a genius. Back on topic, though -- I definitely saw a lot more detail the 2nd viewing. The effects were beautiful. I will be pissed if it's not nominated for an Oscar (I'd have to figure Godzilla and Transformers 4 will be in the running too)... The ONLY issue I have is one line. That damn "A god named sparkles?" line. Ugh. The script wasn't as bad as some people are saying -- but it WAS repetitive at times. Calling him Sparkles in the Times Square sequence? Cool, fine, whatever. That line at the end? Painful.

Only bad thing about the movie coming out now is having to wait so long for #3.

I can't get DeHaan's performance out of my mind. Dude was killer in Chronicle...but him as Harry was just sooo good.

Saw it today. Wasn't bad. Much better than the first. But I'd still rank all the Avenger related films above it.

You would think if Peter just gave Norman his damn blood nobody would of gotten hurt and Stacy would of defiantly still be alive.
