The first toy I can remember loving was a red teddy bear. I still have it around somewhere. I put one of my old Bigfoot monster truck t shirts on it and I would wrestle with the teddy bear every Sat morning watching wwf.
I also hold near to my heart a wwf Hasbro Jake the Snake figure. It is special to me because it was a gift to me for Christmas from "santa". My parents had a very bad financial year that year and my mom made it clear to us kids there would be no presents. I cant remember what she gave me Christmas eve night, prob clothes or something I actually needed. But Christmas day morning she apologized to me and my brother for not having bought us gifts to open on Christmas morning. Then as we were growing to accept the idea that Santa didnt stop by the house that Christmas she gave us gifts. I got the Jake the Snake figure, I cant remember what my brother got. The point was that I was old enough to understand my parents were going through tough financial times but yet my mom still went out of her way to get us toys. Ever since then that figure has meant so much to me. I see it as a symbol that even when things are tough there is still always happiness to be found.

Hasbro WWF figures were my fave! I remember how when a new series came out, I'd force me mom to bring me toy shopping on a Friday night. Saturday morning, I'd wake up super early just to play with them then call my friends to kinda review the figures and let them know they are available in stores etc.
I used to have other stuff too like M.A.S.K. figures with super cool vehicles, TMNT, Ghostbusters and I remember loving a Beetlejuice figure who could spin its head a lot.
I really miss those days...life wasn't so complicated.

WWF Hasbro and original TMNT were my favorites. He-man and Transformers were also cool.

It depends what you mean by kid. Overall, either WWF BCAs or just about anything Marvel (with a bit of Batman the Animated Series in there too.) I went through a hardcore Mighty Max phase at one point, and as a real youngster, nothing could touch WWF Hasbros to me. WWF Hasbro and original TMNT were my favorites. He-man and Transformers were also cool. Don't forget the Dick Tracy movie tie-ins. They were built just like the TMNT figures, and if you felt like getting creative, you could switch their arms and legs around. Maybe that was just me.

Kenner Super Powers and Toy Biz X Men Quick question: How long did the cape on your Robin last? I probably lost mine by the second day. Also, that Penguin is still one of my favorite toys. They were really excellent sculpts for the time.

They were really excellent sculpts for the time. Its been so long I don't remember, but I don't think I lost any of the capes besides Martian Manhunter's and Red Tornado's. I think I always had Robin's.

At first it was my Acion Man dolls and all my toy cars & buses that I had, then I got into wrestling. The first things I got were the Jakks mini ring sets, I absolutely loved those. In 99 I started collecting BCAs & then TTLs then the R3 & RA figures. I turned 13 in 05. So yeah, all of those.
