My apologies if I didn't find an existing thread. I tried to look. Any fans in here of card collecting? Another addicting, can be expensive hobby. My card collecting goes up and down. I try to do a lot of autographs, which can cause spikes in not only the amount of cards but the sport as well. Personally, I mainly collect basketball. I do get some baseball because I will occasionally go for baseball autographs as well and always prefer getting signed cards. Cheap plug, I have a recent article for a site I sometimes contribute about some of the more funny and random basketball cards you may come across: culturecrossfire.com/sports/basketball/delightfully-random-basketball-cards/#.U2aDMIGgwyE.linkAnyone else collect cards? Basketball? Baseball? Football? Hockey? Heck, even the WWE/WCW/TNA cards through the years? Post here!

Not in years. I pretty much stopped collecting cards in the mid 80's. Then went on to just collect my favorite players (Andy Van Slyke and Howie Long) and teams (Pirates and Raiders) but even stopped that when both players retire. Every once and a while I'll check to see if they are released in any throwback sets. But that is it. I pretty much have all of both players cards. (minus a few that were released in the last 10 years)

I definitely go out of my way to have cards of certain guys but cannot think of guys as big as those two I would have the complete collection of. Both those guys have sons in the games now. Any thoughts to putting together collections on their sons? Or not as tied to them? I tend to be start and stop. I will go hard and get a ton, then stop, then go back and go crazy again.

I thought about it for Chris Long because I do like him and that was the position I played way back in the day...but I just haven't bothered looking up his cards. As for Kyle he's a guard so honestly I have no real interest, because I doubt he'll get many cards. And with Scott Van Slyke while he did hit the first HR of the season I don't really follow him. I'm not sure, but I think he's back in the minors.

I have a few mint cards kicking around from the late 90s that my dad used to collect. Including a couple of Rookie Cards. I had Derek Jeter's 2nd year card but I don't know what happened to it. I have a lot of average players though from the late 90s. Sports cards are a pretty cool thing to collect though.

I just bought some the other day for nostalgia sake only. The 1983 Atlanta Braves. That is the ONLY time in my life I ever got close to liking sports. I hate them now of course....

Went to a game the Giants played in a couple years ago and got Bumgardner to sign his Topps Heritage rookie card for me. Definitely a favorite of mine. Quite a few awesome names you listed there.

I have complete sets of the Topps baseball sets from 1969 - 80 something and then picked it up again and have through the early to mid 90's. I have about 2/3 of each set from about 1956 - 68. I have a few of the cards before that. I also collected Upper Deck, Donruss and Fleer from the 80's and 90's. The oldest card I have is from 1950.
I also have several football sets 1969 and forward, partial sets from the 60's. For basketball, I have partial sets from the 60's and a couple of sets from the 70's and 80's.
With duplicates and some non-sports cards, it is over 100,000 cards in all.
