The line that Jerry Lawler mentioned the 1984 film "Children of the Corn" during the John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt match at Extreme Rules regarding the children's choir who sang at last week's RAW. I remember watching that film when I was a preteen growing up in the 80's much to my mom and grandmother's dismay. Do you think the choir reminds you a lot like "Children of the Corn" IYO?

Are you comparing the two based on their occult-like creepiness? I can see it. Weird kids always freak me out. Children of the Corn, Village of the Damned, all that stuff.

I'm kinda wondering if that particular child is someone close to John like a nephew or little cousin.
while I'm not a huge proponent of making a kid look like a heel or possessed demon creature
I do think that Bray using a family member to psych out John could really amp up the personal stakes.
IE: he's now fighting to save the soul of his own family member from the wild machinations of Bray Wyatt
This makes him the much fiercer and far more driven individual who has finally made the turn not to heel
but to all out driven fighter who won't care about his support from the Cenation as much as he does about
taking down the Wyatts once and for all

I'm glad that Wyatt won this match.
But quite frankly the fact that he had to get so much help to do so nullifies the result. Plus it was the WM match that everyone would recall to when they think of this feud.

Last night's kid was so much creepier than Monday's children. A really good match but like a few of you pointed out, Bray shouldn't need to have to pull a gun out to beat Cena.
And I don't know if it was shown on the live broadcast, but I wasn't happy with the way Cena exited. No look of distress or despair, he just briskly walked to the back with a straight face.

I think they should have given the kid a more "Children of the Corn" type of name. Malachai, Issac or something more creepy than Johnny. I understand the little Johnny reference as a play on John Cena. But I just think it'd be more interesting to see Cena facing Malachai in a Hell in a Cell next month than Little Johnny.

He shouldn't be able to beat Cena one on one. Cults are genually cowards controlling weak minded people that can't think themselves. Plus I think Wyatt's whole motivation is supposed to be to destroy Cena's legacy so he is going to do anything he can. So having the kid (Cena's main fans) turn on him and be the reason Cena lost to Wyatt was creepy and perfect. |
