I was a hardcore Jakks collector back in the day I mainly collected the CS line and Shawn Michaels and figures of The Rock. I would love to go figure hunting. Always checking online to see what new protos were out and what new information might have been leaked, but there was a single figure that I am not saying is the worst figure ever made or anything like that, but it certainly just killed my love for collecting WWE figures.
the figure I am talking about was the RA 16.5 Shawn Michaels. I collected every HBK figure from his BCA ones to his RA's and I cannot tell you exactly why, but that half assed RA 16.5 figure was my breaking point. I loved the proto of that figure and we all know that the actual product can differ from the proto, but this RA 16.5 to me felt like it was changed just to save a few bucks and as a result to me the figure looked like garbage.
I was just curious if anyone else loved collecting and then a certain figure or series made you think "why the hell am I doing this?"

I collected CS - quite a few made me scratch my head & wonder if I needed to get my eyes checked.
The first CS Big Bossman was one that made me less excited...123 Kid CS too. They would always redeem themselves later with me though. I remember being most disappointed in Virgil's sculpt/scan from CSTT.
I still maintained collecting them, but those three did impact my excitement and expectations. Warlord's singles gear CS toward the end frustrated me - knowing they cheeped out on that look being correct, mixed with losing the release of Evil Crush & Skinner..it was a crappy exit. However, they did release surfer sting through tna - so I forgave them, but then didn't release Steiner so I got angry again lol.

Jakks "Deluxe Aggression/Impact" completely forced me to stop collecting as a whole. Those figures were soridicuolous and outlandish for their time that it sickened me. The fact that that style is still around is just garbage. If it werent for mattel I wouldnt have any wrestling figures at all.TTL R3 Tech and RA were all great. But Deluxe Aggression certainly was everything but Deluxe

For Jakks, once they started S.T.O.M.P. I tapped out.
Also, when I was 12-14 when I got the first few series, I couldn't even get that excited in the normal figures, I didn't even like the quality of figures back then. I stopped after Series 6 (1997??) and then picked back up with Mattel earlier this year.

I hated how Ra series 25 HBK went from this: To this: I absolutely LOVED the prototype, it looked so accurate, it would have been my favorite figure ever. But then they decided to ruin my enthusiasm. I looked forward to that for weeks...

The pants mold is all wrong, and he has no belt or hearts logos. A good substitute, but not good enough

They released that figure in a trios pack. Yeah I know what you are saying, but it is not the same figure. The pants mold is all wrong, and he has no belt or hearts logos. A good substitute, but not good enough You could always buy both figures and switch the arms and head to do a simple fix-up to get that perfect Shawn Michaels figure. All you would need is some hot water and arm strength.

For me it was seeing guys like HHH, HBK, Cena, Edge, Bigshow, be in the classics line up. I think for a line up to be called Classics/Legends it should be all guys who dont currently wrestle for the company. A classics line up should be guys of years past, not guys who you can watch on television currently.
Every time I would see HBK or HHH and so on in a classics line up I would get ticked off. I would see it as a spot taken from a real classic wrestler. The only exception I would make is in cases where like HBK was released in the Rockers. That tag team hadnt been on television, with that attire, for decades so that made sense.

I use to hate it back in the day when Jakks did it. I called it Rehashing then, when they would just make the same guy over and over and over again. Now though it's common practice with Mattel. It's equal parts lazy and equal parts penny pinching. Toy Companys want to make as much profit with putting as little effort and as little resources as possible into the product. It would have cost the toy company some money to sign Hansen or Gagne to a contract and then make new molds. Why go through the expense when you can just rehash HBK and HHH and make the same money?

As much as I would love to see it, a series of Magnum TA, Buddy Rogers, Tony Atlas, Peter Miavia, and Earthquake...just simply isnt going to sell

...Also did not like TNA figures being Deluxe rather than RA/RI/CS style I will never understand why people would rather want RA than DA figures. The thought just burns a hole through my brain every time I think of this or when someone revives the discussion. Get with the times, folks, limited articulate figures is out of the picture, obsolete, gone, retro.

Get with the times, folks, limited articulate figures is out of the picture, obsolete, gone, retro. Well see not all of us play with wrestling figures. Some of us like the look of RA better. I own a few deluxe jakks figures, they are harder to pose compared to a RA figure. Plus Jakks had released a number of characters as RA figures before they made deluxe figures. I dont know if you noticed but, RA figures do not look compatible with Deluxe figures. The deluxe figure looks slightly bigger, so some of us rather stick with the style that had a larger roster. That's one thing I'll say I like about Mattel the elite figures are pretty much the same size as the basics.

And the Classics line up was usually only old school guys. There were more line ups without the guys who were current at that time. That's why I loved it so much. We got so many figures of guys who hadnt wrestled in years.

Honestly, what's hurting my enthusiasm a little is the seemingly rapid pace of releases that Mattel has been keeping up lately. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome to get great figures quickly like we have been. Just so hard to keep up when you're on a fairly limited budget for collecting. Not to mention the rapid growth of the collection also means the rapid disappearance of shelf space to display them. I only collect elites and Divas, so it's not as bad as some folks in trying to keep up, but still... Kinda dampens my enthusiasm a little when I add a couple new figures only to see a few more new ones coming the next month.

For Jakks WWE lines every figure that had a rubber vest that had molded sleeves. It ruined so many figures since I love to play with back in the day. For example, Simon Dean and Carlito's first figure just to name some of the ones that really disappointed me to the point of not buying them.
