So does anybody have any of these? I will list out two of my most prominent ones.....pertaining to purchases of Superhero toys.
first one is to do with Batman....
Whenever a Batman line starts I will always HAVE to get Batman, Robin and the "big 4" villians.....Joker, Penguin, Riddler & Catwoman. TAS, TNBA, Movies,Lego, Imaginext,Arkham collection etc etc this is the way it HAS to go down. and it bugs the living sh*t outta me when one or more of the 4 doesn't get made....Like the Super Powers for instance....or Kenners LODK or LOB line.
that's why I wont even attempt mattels 4" movie stuff-no Jack/Joker = no sale.
next is my Marvel OCD.......I HAVE to get Cap, Thor, IM & Doom......and like DC it bugs the everliving sh*t outta me when I don't have those 4 in the same style(like secret wars). Mighty Muggs, Toybiz Super Heroes, Famous Covers, Lego and of course very soon when I start getting Mashers.....Im actually relieved that these 4 are already out.

Scale differences annoy me the most, and I suppose just general inconsistencies in figures/lines.
For example, 99% of my wrestling figure collection is RA style, and it bugs the hell out of me that wrestlers who were only made in DA, TTL, BCA, Toybiz or Mattel style often don't match up to RAs scale wise and as such don't quite look right with my RA collection. "Balloon heads" as well (where the head is bigger than it should be) annoy me just as much.
I also like to keep my wrestlers displayed on the shelves in alphabetical order.
And when buying loose figures, I'm very obsessive about making sure they don't have a dented nose. Which happens pretty easily if you're not careful with your figures and/or how you store them. Even a slightly dented nose ruins a figure in my view.

But I will say this is something I always do with any mass retail figure I want. I'll preorder the figures I really want, but when they hit mass retail even if the figure was perfect I will go out and make sure I don't see a better painted one. If I do I'll but it.
Also another thing I do when there's been any basic blue/grey Batman (DCSU series 3, DCUC 1) or black/grey (TNBA, 6" Zipline, DCSH 5, ETC) is if I don't find something I was looking for on a toy run if the last store I went to had one of those I would buy it so not to go home empty handed. lol

If someone new has a debut Basic and then an Elite figure or vice versa. I must get both of them, for example the Elite 28 Bray Wyatt and the Basic 39 Bray. Or another example would be the Basic Fandango and Elite 27 Fandango. And then the Basic Big E and the Elite 26 Big E.

When I lose an accessory to a figure I really, really like, I sink into a deep depression that can only be cured by either a) finding the accessory, b) finding the accessory for sale on the secondary market, or c) buying the whole thing over again and securing it somewhere I'll never, EVER lose it again.

Ah yeh, checking for best paint apps, that's another one. Some lines/manufacturers are worse than others though. Man I must have looked through maybe 20 or 30 sets of the TMNT Classic Collection to find Turtles with decent paint apps and no damage. Terrible quality control on that line. At least the figure designs were pretty good. Wish I could say the same about Rocksteady and Bebop. Actually that's another OCD thing for me, similar to the inconsistency I mentioned earlier, inconsistent visual style and direction of a toy line. For example Playmates can't seem to make up their mind whether the TMNT Classic Collection is brand new figures or rereleased old figures, accurate toon designs, accurate toy designs or stylized designs, super articulated or basic articulated, whether they're committed to the line or not. You honestly wouldn't think Playmates had any experience with Turtles merchandise. Also a quote I always like to say about the TMNT Classic Collection is that on the one hand I was more excited for the TMNT Classic Collection than I've been for a toyline in years, but on the other hand I've been collossally disappointed in their "stylized" Rocksteady and Bebop and agonizingly slow release schedule. Talk about going from one extreme to the other. Anyway sorry I'm getting a bit off topic. But yeh, poor quality control and inconsistancies in figure lines was my point. |

I consider mine normal. I will not army build over 5 figures. I think anything else is asshattery. I will also never collect more than ONE figure of a character or wrestler. Getting all CM Punks for instance is asshattery for me.
Other than that I am ok.

I am not a big Transformers guy, but I still buy some of the figures and I try to put myself on a limit of 1 figure for each new toyline since Robots in Disguise. I have
Robots in Disguise: X-Brawn
Armada: Blurr
Energon: Snowcat
Cybertron: Still need a figure from this line
Classics: Still need a figure from this line
Universe: Prowl
Generations: Thrust
Movie: Bumblebee
Revenge of the Fallen: Sideswipe?
Hunt for the Decepticons: Still need a figure from this line
Dark of the Moon: Barricade
Age of Extinction: Crosshairs
I skip the recent animated toylines like Animated and Prime

Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars have to all be based on actual street cars.
Monster Jam trucks must be a plain truck with no mud or glow in the dark bodys
Car keys have to be OEM

After all these years am I that predictable? The funny thing I've never done that with wrestling figures, but put a blue/grey or black/grey Batman in front of me and I am all in. lol |

If someone is in one of the Lantern Corps, even for only a short time, I have to have a 6" figure of them. At last count, I had over 100 figures from the Emotional Spectrum in the Green Lantern books.

Mine is with Playarts. I have to have the collector upgrade, that wrapped in plastic. I never get to open them. Sux I don't ever see them, but I just have to have them way.

I think the only “OCD quirk” in my collecting habits is that I only buy figures if they come with a Championship Title Belt or a Crown and robe, and if applicable a scepter…and then turn around and sell the figure, and if applicable, the shirt, the elbow pads (Flashback Brock Lesnar), the mic (ECW CM Punk), etc.

I had one that I seem to be in the process of correcting where I can't leave the store empty handed.
Like my Toys R Us sucks at stocking so most time I go in, they don't have what I'm looking for. I will usually walk around the whole store for like an hour and just search for one thing to buy. Sometimes it's a toy for my cousin, sometimes it's a wwe figure I could use for parts, or sometimes I end up starting a whole new collection.
That's actually how I started collecting Walking Dead figures.

I guess my biggest OCD quirk is scale, but only as it applies to height. I really want all the figures in my collection to be reasonably close to the correct height when displayed with other figures. Oddly, I don't mind it if a figure is a little too ripped or "idealized" as long as they are the right height.
I do have a major quirk with regards to displaying. I have to organize my display according to promotion and era. I will literally rearrange every figure in my display of several hundred to make sure Big Bossman is standing next to the Million Dollar Man instead of Fandango. Thats why as much as I love Mattel's Flashbacks I know whenever I get one it means another session of moving figures around so everyone is in the right place.
