When you offer a collector's line like the elites and charge a premium like they do for that line, QC should be a cut above average.

I once got a figure with 2 left feet. I called it the Shawn Michaels pimp limp variant.

Basic is basic, elite is a step up from basic, making it...premium. Skylanders are cheaper and have tech inside, and the paint apps still are more consistent.

On an unrelated note, but still about mattel figures, has anybody ever had an elite with an extremely loose chest/torso? My Fandango is really loose in that area

Issues like paint slop will never be fixed because of how mass produced these are. However the problem with the socket hips can. The fact that they use ball joints on some and continue to use sockets on others is mind boggling. Truth. I'm tired of stuck hips on my figures when my ball jointed ones work perfectly. I'm really dumb when it comes to this, so can someone explain to me the different joints for hips and post a pic?

It sucks you got bad figures. But they are still mass produced figures. There are going to be mistakes. And for every person that has a mistake. There is likely over 100 that had no issue. I really don't believe that QC has became worse, but I do believe people are just more vocal about having issues. Well it's not his fault that the figures are messed up..... He has a right to be picky... he's a paying customer. I'm a paying customer too. Own every elite and variant released. Have tons of figures from them. And have had less than 5 figures with issues. It's just that we get to see more people complain about bad issues than when it's something good.

The heads aren't articulated and that's where 80% of my issues have been. I also don't have this issue nearly as often with other collector aimed lines. I love the figures, I just wish more care was taken, like with all the bleeding black/red clothing items.

Man you're REALLY picky with your figures. No offense I certainly would be. If I bought one with a bad paintjob I would return it for one that had a good paintjob without a second thought.

In my area elites only sell to adults OR kids when they're on sale for 18.99 instead of 25.99$ cuz parents aren't dumb enough to pay 30$ for a TOY. It's not just toys, you used to buy stuff that lasted years and was made well - everything is cheap and shoddy now. People will TAKE your money but they won't GIVE you quality for it anymore...

I've got two Fandangos and they both have that issue. The chest articulation just doesn't hold its position. One of them, I shoved about six of the clear plastic/elastic band things from the packaging up into the torso and it helped a little but not much. The quality control (or the general design) on the line is pretty bad for the articulation, I think. I almost never get a figure that has all the joints working well. There's almost always at least one POA that's either too stiff or too loose, or the elite legs are aligned wrong so the knees have to point inwards for the designs to align properly etc. I was actually playing with my Road Dogg figure the other day and realised it's one of my favourites because it's one of the only ones that doesn't have some articulation defect.

I haven't really had any major quality control issues with Mattel, with the exception of a Hot Wheels car where the windshield caves in

That sucks. At the price we pay, it gets annoying. I always cherry pick the best looking figure off the store shelves. But online ordering can be a problem.
