Ive never seen a team that's ever played "keep away" any more then the US team. They did it vs Ghana and against Portugal. They have no killer instinct at all.

Soul crushing.
Now they still have their own fate in their hands, but Jurgen said it best when talking about the stadiums where certain teams have to and don't have to play...along those lines, something tells me Germany and Portugal magically make it out of this group, in which case I give up on international play.

So disappointed for the US. I agree that they sat back too much and let Ghana play but they really took it to Portugal. They couldn't handle Johnson and resorted to putting someone different on him several times. Bradley did well until he gave away the ball which lead to the last minute goal. Sitting back and defending a lead with ten minutes to go is a legit tactic because you just don't want to get caught on the counter, as Bradley ended up doing.
As long as either of the group G games result in a draw it's good news though.

Heart broken. Tim Howard should have kicked it out on that goal kick and we should have kicked it out. Time would have ran out if we didn't leave it in bounds

What a game for me to watch as my first. I was glued to the TV throughout and stunned at the final goal. A lot of fun to watch though and look forward to Thursday's game against Germany.

I don't know how someone can not be caught up in the World Cup hype. Watching three games a day is the most fun i've had as a sports fan in a long time; not to mention the national pride involved.
I honestly didn't think the USA had a chance today, but was pleasantly suprised the result in the game. Germany next.

Pretty sure outside of Hope Solo most Americans could not name a female soccer player. Then again, they can probably only mention Donovan, Adu and Dempsey for the men so it is not much better there. Alex Morgan Alex Morgan in a bikini Alex Morgan in a tight dress Alex Morgan in a skirt Alex Morgan in spandex shorts but other then that, I couldnt tell you anyone. There was that dog ugly Wombat girl or whatever her name was.

Hoping for a big win for Portugal for CR7 <3 not the end of the world if they don't though. Amazing how much you hate the US teams man. Don't hate the US team at all. I just prefer Portugal and Germany. Ronaldo's not even a Man Utd player anymore, Mike Giggs. Does this mean you also want Holland (Van Persie), Japan (Kagawa), Belgium (Fellaini) and France (Evra) to win? I like Shola Ameobi but I don't want Nigeria to win the thing. I guess it's OK to wish a player to do well but is it really enough to support Portugal to thrash the US? Ronaldo is a villain to English fans by the way for the "winking" incident. Ronaldo is a United legend and one of my favourite players ever, and unless he goes to City/Liverpool/Chelsea/Barcelona then I'll always support him whatever he's doing (unless its against Utd of course). It doesn't mean I want all those teams to win (out of everyone left I'd go Chile, Portugal, Germany, everyone else, the tournament being cancelled, Argentina) but I'll support them ahead of most other teams as a result. I think club football is much better than international football so that influences it too. I don't care for the USA team one way or the other, and I really like Ronaldo so I therefore want him to win and do well. I couldn't care less about the winking thing, club > country (although I obviously still massively support England).

Good win for Holland.
In regards to Spain, I still hate Mata.

Very glad Holland won! But they did play a bit dirty, and the ref let a few blatant fouls slide.

Very glad Holland won! But they did play a bit dirty, and the ref let a few blatant fouls slide. The officiating has been terrible this Cup. It seems like most are just letting them play, but then calling cards that were worse earlier in the game that they let slide. And it is funnier because they have been airing that whole "Our officials are unbiased" campaign since the day after the Brazil opener. Funny.

During the Iran/Argentina match, the ref got in the way, possibly costing Iran a goal. I won't be surprised if some bad-mouthing finally takes place or if someone takes a swing at one of the referees!

The guy got something like 10 offsides calls all game. Yeah most were warranted but you know, whatever.

As a ref I can tell you, the worst feeling is being in the way, but it is quite tough at times, I have been hit by a ball several times I feel like the officiating has either been excellent or poor. The game between usa and Portugal was very well officiated I thought, but then the game between Brazil and Croatia was not at all, it's just been very interesting

Just cheering for your country and coming together as a nation to root for one team is just amazing.

The US survived the group of death. Raise your hand if you called that at the beginning if the Cup.
If you raised your hand you are a lying bastard.
