Downloaded and just joined Black Dragon faction. Had a quick online match and kicked some guys ass with Kano, off to work now though cant wait to get properly into this tonight!

Really enjoying it so far just playing the story. Kung Jin is pretty good to play with, Sub Zero just kicks ass and Johnny Cage is ok as well. Had a bit of a hard time playing with Kotal Kahn but practice makes perfect.......i miss Cyrax though lol

Am I the only one who is completely disappointed with this game? MK9 was so much better and had a lot more content it seems. Aside from the graphical jump, they really skimped out with this game.
And don't even get me started on the absurd DLC price. Man, they breathed life back into a dying franchise only to suck it right back out.

Picked this up from Gamestop yesterday getting about half of it paid with trade-in credit. Wasn't able to play it last night because of work but should be able tonight. Kind of wish I would have gotten it at Target as if you buy it there you can get the season pass for only $10 as you get $20 off when you buy both together. Might buy it there and take Gamestop one back so I can get the season pass for only $10.

I put this in the banter thread but wanted to show you guys something interesting.I put spoilers because in the story mode.  Observant fans have just outed a closeted gay character in Mortal Kombat X, said to be the first in the series. The fighter is Kung Jin, a cousin of the famed Kung Lao, and an archer who riddles his opponents with arrows during his blood fatalities. His orientation is something slipped subtly into the game, and appears to be first spotted by Gay Star News who was paying close attention during one of his flashback cutscenes. In the scene, Raiden tries to convince Kung Jin to join the Shaolin Monks, and follow in the footsteps of his ancestry. Kung Jin is resistant. “I can’t… They won’t accept,” Kung Jin says. To which Raiden replies: “They care only of what is in your heart, not whom your heart desires.” While I suppose that could be interpreted as Kung Jin falling for say, the razor-toothed cloned villain Mileena, which no order of monks would approve of, Mortal Kombat X’s cinematic director Dominic Cianciolo confirmed that the scene was indeed alluding to Kung Jin being gay. “I see people are picking up on the subtle exposition contained in Kung Jin’s flashback. Glad we have observant fans!”. |

Is this worth picking up? The reviews seem good on it but doesn't seem to be much conversation here. I thought it was shyt personally. Unlike MK9 (which is the greatest fighting game of all time imo), this game just missed the mark. The character roster is weaker than 9. The story mode was lame and uninteresting (9's story was epic). They took out stage fatalities. There's only like 12 arenas to fight in (MK9 had 26). The Krypt is a total waste of time. Also, they took the fan-screwing-DLC concept to a whole new level. 30 ing dollars for 4 characters and some outfits. That's half the price of the game. So essentially, to get this game in its entirety, you have to pay just about 1/4 of the console price!!!!! Very disappointed in Ed Boon and the rest of the idiots involved with this project. I understand the concept... Make 75% of a game, charge 100% price. Then charge an additional 50% of the price for that remaining 25% of the game that should have been there in the first place. But wow, these guys didn't even try to make a half-assed effort to make the DLC worth the price. Plus, I find the idea of announcing DLC before the main game's release a huge slap in the face. It's basically giving a preview of your subsequent prison raping. The only positive thing about this game is the graphics. But who cares? The game sucks. |
