The TV-14 Attitude Era lasted less than 10 years in the nearly 50 year history of WWE. The other 40+ have been PG. So yes, wrestling is meant for kids. The Attitude Era had its time and place, and that was out of desperation to compete with WCW, and it worked then. That doesnt mean it would work now. The wrestling business, like everything else, has to continuously evolve in order to stay relevant. You can enjoy the past, but dont try to live in it forever.

We've seen glimpses this year that show PG is clearly not the problem. Lack of stories and character investment has largely been the problem for awhile, not the lack of cursing and R-rated humor.

He wouldn't sell it for a trillion dollars. He built it up so much, so why would he sell it? Plus many fans would stop watching I'm sure

Maybe Vince will ask you what he should do with WWE in your next q&a

Oh, so it one of these threads where someone says that the Attitude Era was the best thing in wrestling history and anything that is happening in the current product sucks so WWE should go back to basics and target to adults instead of all ages.
Its real simple, if the current product doesn't appeal to you, don't watch. There is plenty of other promotions you can watch that do similar things that WWE did the Attitude Era.

Wrestling is for all ages, at least it has been from the 1950's on.

Speak for yourself. WWE has and always will offer a little something for everyone. Whether it's comedy, seriousness, tag teams, Divas, highfliers, technical, brawling or anything else to appeal to men, women or children of all ages. You are not expected to like 100% of what they offer. That's how they reach a larger fanbase. It doesn't offer a single thing for adults. The Bray Wyatt/Wyatt Family gimmick isn't necessarily something kids are going to fully understand. And people like Cesaro, Bryan, and whether he's truly retired or not, CM Punk, appealed to both kids and adults. So to say they offer nothing for adults is IMO ridiculously narrow minded.

I've heard a lot of ridiculous statements before, but man...

I don't honestly, have not since 02 and once in a while in 06, saw a few recent shows but was very uninteresting. That not the problem here whether I watch it or not, I would like to see it go back to when it was in its peak form. I lost faith in TNA ever challenging the WWE. I lost faith when I found out about Dixie Carter, just like Linda McMahon.

Everyone who replied to this thread should just edit their post to some kind of facepalm .gif or .jpg. Or at the very least, remember to just post one next time.

What I think you don't understand is this, it wasn't that the Attitude Era was the reason WWE was at its peak, it was because during that time, wrestling in general was. That's why they call that time a boom period for the wrestling industry. WCW and ECW were popular then too because of it.

That's why they call that time a boom period for the wrestling industry. WCW and ECW were popular then too because of it. So why can't we go back to that Era? Because there is no more competition. And the Attitude Era worked because that time period was perfect for it with the perfect people. Steve Austin and DX came along at the right time. The world loved wrestling and the world loved South Park and things that pushed the envelope. Times have changed and the current product is very good. It has its downsides but so did the Attitude Era which we've pointed out but you've ignored.
