So he left because of a lack of spending? I like Palace but they're ed without him. Strange he's leaving in a way as he was always sh*t with money and at his best when he had little, but 'spose he understandably doesn't see it in those terms and thinks (rightly) he deserves a decent budget after last year. Think Leicester might've just got a season reprieve in my table prediction. I had them 10th with him but without him I genuinely think they're relegation fodder.

I didn't think they'd do as well as last season anyway, but now I'm definitely thinking relegation is on the cards for Palace.
RIP Crystal Pulis

I hear the reason he's left is because Palace's board desperately want to sign Zaha and Pulis doesn't want him (rightly so as he's crap and wouldn't fit into a Pulis side). Stupid club putting that average player on such a pedestal when the manager worked miracles to keep them up last season.

Stupid club putting that average player on such a pedestal when the manager worked miracles to keep them up last season. I think that's one of the reasons but not the big reason. The main reason seems to be that Palace have missed out on Pulis' main wants (Sigurdsson, Michu, Caulker), likely due to Parish not wanting to cough up the dough.

This Pulis news is shocking. No hope for them now.

Yeah heard the Zaha thing was there but don't think he'd leave over it. Parish not spending makes sense as a reason to leave, but he really should've splashed out to keep Tony. Wonder who will come in now - Sherwood? Reckon someone like WBA might sack their manager that bit quicker in the hopes of getting Tony in.

I'll be the first to say I wouldn't mind Pulis at my club if Irvine doesn't work out....which he likely won't.
EDIT: ffs Mike

All 3 of those would have been good signings for Palace, not cheap though and I can slightly understand the chairman's view, you can't throw around silly sums of money just because the manager wants you to. Seems Pulis held them to ransom a bit.

I've seen people saying all the teams outside the top 8 would look to Pulis if their current manager is not working out, but I don't see it that way.
Crystal Pulis worked so well because it was easy to change Palace's style of play to fit Pulis' system. It would be much harder to do that at say Swansea, while West Ham are looking to play a more attractive style so it wouldn't make sense for them to hire him.
I think we'd be a good fit because I can't imagine Irvine will have us playing good football anyway.

Is this bad news for other managers, though? Now a bad start could mean Pulis replaces you early on. He can clearly turn a side around.

United's defence is shocking. Can't believe some of the Utd supporters who tried to claim it was and I quote "good".
It's by far the worst of the top 7 and struggles to even be in the top 10 defences in the league.

Going to probably watch West Ham vs. Tottenham now. I still think Man U is going to pull through and have a good season, Van Gaal is going to improve over time. Or not. But Manchester United should be an interesting story-line to follow throughout the season.

West Ham has been playing really strong. Carlton Cole is looking good out there, let's see if the Spurs can take this game.
