I have an extensive Jakks collection and just started to bag each in order to keep them from mucking up the paint of each other during storage (aprox 1000 to my count).
I noticed that some of the figures with rubber suite coats or rubber shirts are starting to have a greasy, slimy, sticky gross feel just on the rubber parts. I tried to wash it with dish soap (which normally works for grease) and water which helped but did not fully cure it. This is especially a problem as it can remove the point from other figures.
Anyone else encounter this problem? Anyone have any tips to remedy it?

It's beginning to happen to me as well. My Foley's flannel is rubber and is sticky and the detail on it seems to be fading... not really any help to you but it's a common problem it seems

Damn you Jakks. I always hated molded rubber. Now I have another reason against it.

Sorry to hear that, I can relate, I kept all my classics piled on top of each other for a few years, I dug 'em out the other day and about half of them traded paint with each other.
This happens with Mattel figs too, after I bought E26 I put them in pile, loose, for a few days and Road Dogg's shirt decal lifted itself on to my E26 Warrior so that's two ruined figures thanks to plastic shirts, oy.

This is a topic that literally comes up 4 times a year. I first noticed this about a year ago. I'm wondering if it's something to do with not having them out on display, because in the box or bags the plastic becomes volatile and starts to corrode.
So cheap.

I bought about 50 Jakks from a friend who had them in boxes in his garage. I know the guy well enough to know he only kept them loose for display and they'd be in great shape. At the time I didn't notice, but when I got them home I felt them being sticky.
I washed them with a wet rag and stood everyone straight up and neatly in boxes and am waiting for room to display them. It's been a year and they don't feel sticky anymore. I keep them in my office and the temps never exceed 75 and never dip below 65.
I'm convinced it was a heat issue. They are also out of sunlight. Comic book collecting has taught me as much, keep the stuff away from direct sunlight and in moderate temps so it doesn't rot.
