My next one's going up. I've had a few convos since getting to Cali about this topic, and figured it would be a good one to make a tournament out of. We need 64 MALE actors (screen, can be movies, or TV) You may suggest up to 8 possible contenders. When I get to 64, I'll cut it off. You know how I run it, by now... This one will be for who you believe to be the BEST at what they do. May the best actor win...

Damn fine choices, so far. 24 in, and I don't think I'd be surprised by ANY ONE of these men winning...this will be good.

Left out some of the obvious ones.
Gene Hackman Paul Newman Jack Lemmon Robert Mitchum Kirk Douglas (over the top, but awesome) Edward G Robinson Humphrey Bogart Peter O'Toole
All these guys can play both great protagonists as well as antagonists.

Half way there, already, great additions. I urge people to take a moment to think of those great talents that have passed on, too.
Shocked not to see the likes of Jimmy Stewart, Depp or Rickman mentioned, yet...

What does it say about the character of Al Bundy (and the legacy of MwC, in general) that Ed O'Neill absolutely warrants a spot in the tournament simply for that one role?
A hell of a lot, I'd say. Awesome character/actor. So many laughs.

Awesome character/actor. So many laughs. He made the Al Bundy role, the dysfunctional dad, his own. So many have done it well but he perfected it! But yeh besides M...WC, there will be people here who will agree that he has shown his acting skills in other roles. If I remember correctly, @bashcrashwiley in particular is a fan of Ed's work in Little Giants

We're at 52 so far. There are EASILY 12 more actors out there deserving to be on this list...
