They should be letting go commentators who are reaching the end of their careers. Lawler should go, I'm sure he's making a lot more than Mathews was and Lawler is just annoying now, hell, has been for years.
I don't understand the WWE sometimes. You get rid of a lot of young talent who will be around in a bunch of years but yet you keep workers who only have another 2 or 3 years in them...if that!

Hasn't Lawler stated hes only doing it anymore for the money anyway? Let the er walk. I love King but his commentary is nothing with JR in my opinion. And Matthews was always a wrestling guy unlike Grisham and Coach so I don't know if he'd want to do the ESPN gig. Though with the money they have it wouldn't surprise me. With Renee Young he was really expendable.

Let him just do that and bring in some fresh blood to the table that will be around in 20 years. Lawler already almost died once on camera, God forbid it happens again!

He was just trying to do his job: I loved that segment. So random. Its almost a shame Matthews will be best known for the guy trying to save Tim White from suicide lol

Lol. Josh won't go to ESPN. They probably don't want him
It's weird. I remember vividly him being my favorite of the first season of Tough enough. Mostly because he was the underdog. Hell I even remember him practicing calling a match with al Snow and they all realized right there that he could be a great announcer.
Now I am thrilled that he is finally gone. He had become so vanilla, bland, and boring over the past 5 years it's not even funny. He literally went though the motions. It was almost as if he was trying to mimic Michael Coles style and found a way to make it worse. Renee is miles and I mean MILES better. Josh brought nothing to those panels. He was always too serious and plain old boring. Cya in the impact zone josh.
Let's all take a second to remember the high point of his career

I thought he was fine but I can see why he got fired. He just doesn't appeal to people or kids like Renee and others do. This, exactly

im actually legit surprised, guy never seemed to do anything wrong. he was a better announcer than Cole thats for sure. At least current day Cole, whatever he's being told to do is horrible....Josh has a better personality.
Maybe he wanted a release because he really wasn't being used on anything "important" and his backstage role was gone. Or maybe his contract was just up and they decided not to...either way, its a loss.

I always enjoyed the combination of JBL/Mathews much more than JBL/Cole on SD!.

This seems like a bad move. Josh anchored the pre and post shows. Only Renee is capable of filling in and do you really expect her to stay long term if EPSN is making overtures?
