Official WWE PPV/DVD review thread.

He turned heel on Kidman a few weeks before the Rebellion PPV (October 17th is when he turned I believe). It was the transition phase before he started rapping.

Great Survivor Series '02 review man. That was my favorite PPV of 2002 followed by SummerSlam. The rest of them are mostly forgettable besides WrestleMania X8.

Those Hog/Road Wild shows sucked ass.

Survivor Series 2002 is one of the best PPVs in the history of ever.

September 24, 2000, at the First Union Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Right to Censor def. The Dudley Boyz and The Acolytes. 8 Man tag. Val Venis has now joined up with the RTC, he split with Trish after she was pinned at Summerslam causing him to lose the Intercontinental title. Match is nothing special, Bubba gets the hot tag from D-Von and cleans house, Dudley Device gets 2 after Goodfather breaks up the pin, he gets thrown out of the ring, Val ducks a punch from Bubba Ray and the opponent gets hit with a super kick from Steven Richards, Venis gets the pin. Faces beat up the Heels after the match and Richards is about to be powerbombed through a table but is saved by his partners. But he then gets beaten up by all of his opponents and finally does get put through a table by Bubba. 1 Star.


Tazz def. Jerry Lawler. Leather Strap match. So since last month, Tazz said he'd had enough of being constantly screwed in the WWF and that if he tries get his hands on Lawler again, JR or someone else will screw him. So, commissioner Foley said that Tazz and Jerry could not touch each other until this pay per view, otherwise the match was off. The heel had chocked out King the week before this announcement was made with a leather strap, so that's where the stipulation came from. In an attempt to get at Lawler without touching him, Tazz would act as a commentator, ring announcer and even as a fan sat behind the announcers, where he would throw popcorn at Cole and King, constantly mocking his opponent, all of this was pretty entertaining. The street thug chocks the commentator with the strap to start infront of the announce table and Jim Ross, whom he taunts. Tazz no sells the piledriver for the second straight PPV, this time he does it three times in one match, but collapses after getting back to his feet after the third. Ref goes down after Tazz kicks him when he is getting chocked by the opponent, in comes a debuting Raven to a big pop, we are in ECW city after all. He DDTs the face, helping out his fellow ECW legend. Tazzmission on Lawler gets the submission finish. 1.5 Stars.


Stone Cold arrives in his jeep to find out who ran him over and is immediately stopped by Kevin Kelly who tries to interview him, Austin says: ''Tonight, I ain't answering the questions, I'm asking them.'' And then pushes the interview away. Michael Cole joins us on commentary.


Steve Blackman def. Al Snow, Crash, Test, Funaki, and Perry Saturn. 10 Minute Time Limit match for the WWF Hardcore Championship. Al Snow comes out dressed as an Italian, he began dressing up as stereotypes from different European countries after he won the European title from Perry Saturn on Smackdown a few weeks prior. He gives a picture of Tony Danza, a dead fish and a pizza to both announce teams. Blackman superkicks Crash, and nails Saturn with a trash can lid as he attempts to give the champ a suicide dive to start. Holly picks up the title first after 4 minutes of the match gone. Perry then pins him a few seconds later after a trash can shot. Bad brawling in the crowd before everyone is back at ringside. The Lethal Weapon beats the hell out of everyone with the kendo stick and gets his title back after a stick shot to Saturn with a minute left of the match remaining. Everyone fights for the cover on the champion but the timer runs out and the PA native retains the title. In my opinion Blackman and Crash were the best ever Hardcore Champions. 1.5 Stars.


Entertaining segment backstage as Angle crosses paths with Austin and offers him a mini gold medal, Steve says he will store the medal in a very special place: right up Kurt's ass and Stone Cold beats him up.


Chris Jericho def. X-Pac. So X-Pac attacked Jericho backstage with nunchucks two weeks before this event and as a result the two began feuding. William Regal had debuted on the RAW before this pay per view and his first segment was with Jericho, it was better than this whole feud and would have rather seen them two go at it in the run up to this show, but we'll get to that later on in these series of reviews. For the second straight pay per view, X-Pac lowblows his opponent in full view of the ref, X-Factor only gets 2 though. Y2J gets the tap out victory with the Walls of Jericho to win the match. The heel attacks the victor with the chucks after the match. 1.5 Stars.


Foley and Angle talk backstage, Kurt says he had a head cold and diarreha when he won his gold medal, what about the ''broken freakin' neck?'' Guess he hadn't start saying that yet. Mick makes Kurt's match with Triple H, which he is already the special referee for no DQ.


Rock and Austin talk backstage about how ran Steve over, some guy named Joe who had been making backstage appearances in the Angle HHH feud pretty much stirring the pot and telling the guys rumours, he says he has information on how ran Stone Cold over. The Texas Rattlesnake doesn't wanna hear it and beats his ass.


The Hardy Boyz def. Edge & Christian. Cage match for the WWF Tag Team Championship. After the Hardys became number one contenders for the titles, Edge & Christian began humiliating, embarrassing and making fun of them. This included having midget Hardyz come out and Matt, Jeff and Lita from the future (old guys) and they even watched some old clips of Matt and Jeff as kids in their OMEGA fed cutting bad promos and stuff. An hour in and we finally get the first good match of the night. Interesting thing in this match where Jeff is pushed out of the cage by Edge, leaving Matt on his own. I would say that was a stupid thing to do on Jeffs part but seen as Edge pushed him out, it's a smart move by the heels. Of course they ruin that when Jeff tries to get back into the cage despite waiting outside it for a good 5 minutes while his Brother was getting beaten up. But Edge & Christian trying to keep Jeff out of the cage is pretty good too though. Jeff beats up the ref on the outside to try and get the key to the door of the cage but the ref won't let him. Why? I thought Jeff was allowed back in? I Just wish they got rid of the door in cage matches, even back in 2000 it was an exhausted and stupid thing to have in the match. Hardy tries to get back in and has a chair, he gets taken out and the heels use the chair. Christian leaves the cage. My God the cage really is absolutely pointless in this match. He gets a second chair, locks the door, Matt is busted open, Edge puts the key in his pants. Matt ducks a concherto. Jeff throws a ladder at Christian who was dangling on the cage. Hardy uses a ladder to get on top of the cage, he does the whisper in the wind on Matt and Edge. As Christian is on the ladder on the outside, Lita runs in and low blows him and then gives him a hurricanarana off the ladder and onto the floor. The Hardys give Edge a concherto while on top of the cage, Edge was about to climb to the top but falls after being hit. The faces exit the cage to become the new Tag Team Champions. The first good match of the night finally and despite the confusing rules and at times pointlessness of the cage, this was an awesome match and the best of the pay per view. 3.5 Stars.


Eddie Guerrero def. Rikishi. WWF Intercontinental Championship. So much like Hunter and Steph, Eddie and Chyna's relationship had always been on the rocks, this was after Chyna was seen hugging her former lover Triple H backstage by Guerrero. This was after the Ninth Wonder of the World had given the Game some relationship advice. Eddie believed Chyna still had feelings for the Cerebral Assassin, Kurt Angle would be brought into the picture after he tried to convince Eddie, HHH loved Chyna too. Angle would interfere in the twos match and hit both with chairs. Angle's part in the feud culminated when Kurt, Chyna and Eddie fought in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship, while seeming to console Chyna who had been hit by Angle, Guerrero seemed to accidentally pin his girlfriend and become the new champion. He would make it known to her that it was an accident and that he cared only for her and not the belt, though he had a villainous smile when he hugged her after saying this. The champ would be further inraged when he found out that his lover would be posing in nude pictures for Playboy. This led Guerrero to try and stop the pictures from being published much to the sadness of Chyna. He would even go as far as to try and enter the Playboy mansion and speak directly to Hugh Hefner in a very entertaining segment. While Eddie tried to tell Chyna, he had came to terms with her being in the magazine and that he was proud and happy for her, Rikishi whom was friends who her, and had various run ins with the IC champ in the previous weeks including defeating Chyna himself after Eddie was ''sick'', showed a video tape of Guerrero further trying to stop the pictures of Chyna in Playboy being seen. Once again this upset Chyna. Though Eddie proposed to Chyna and she accepted. All of this was very good and entertaining television and led to match a this pay per view. Eddie tries to leave but Chyna throws him back into the ring. Chyna stops the referee from counting three on a Banzai Drop, so they argue and Rikishi ends up giving her a super kick, which somehow is a DQ, stupid finish and bad match. Kishi does the Banzai on Chyna after this. 1 Star.

Triple H def. Kurt Angle No DQ match with Mick Foley as special referee. So after hitting his wife by accident at Summerslam, Triple H had began to show signs of a face turn, after both him and Angle had been strictly kept heel in there feud thus far. He began to imply that Kurt wanting to be just friends with Steph and crying after he won his gold medal meant he was gay. This got over and lead to 'The Game' getting positive cheers, he been been attacked by Angle on the go home show for this pay per view with sledgehammer who has tapped ribs for this match and Kurt ended up kissing Stephanie. Foley announced himself as special referee to ensure this rivalry ends at Unforgiven. The 'Olympic Hero' sings Happy Birthday to McMahon before the match begins. Good psychology from Kurt as he straight away works over the ribs of Hunter. HHH goes for a Pedigree on the English announce table but Angle counters into a belly to belly and throws him onto the Spanish announce table. Angle continues to pound Helmsley's ribs and misses a moonsault, the' Cerebral Assassin' does a one armed Pedigree, as he doesn't have the strength to clutch the other arm of Kurt due to his hurt ribs. He signals for Steph to get in the ring, she does and kicks Angle in the groin and as H goes for another Pedigree to win the match. Very good match, good story told, I think Kurt should have won though, Steph should have sided with him, especially given what happens next month. Otherwise an awesome match. 3.5 Stars.

Shane McMahon makes his return after falling off the Titantron scaffold structure at Summerslam, he comes out and tell us he knows who ran over Stone Cold, he says it was the man who made McMahon fall off the structure in their match: Steve Blackman and shows a video of Steve running over Ken Shamrock a year prior. He comes out and as he gets into the ring 'Shane O'Mac' bails to the outside as the glass breaks and out comes the 'Texas Rattlesnake'. He comes out to his new theme by 'Disturbed', I thought it was decent music, definitely better than what he would end up having later. The 'Lethal Weapon' tries to explain to Austin that he didn't run him over and tries to get at Shane, but Stone Cold keeps getting in his way, he gets a Stunner for his troubles. 'Young Simba' celebrates with the 'Bionic Redneck' over some 'Stevewesiers'. He eats a Stunner aswell, three infact. They save the reveal for the next night on the debut of WWF on 'TNN'.

The Rock (c) def. Chris Benoit, Undertaker & Kane. Fatal 4 Way for the WWF Championship. So all three challengers wanted to be WWF Champion but a number one contender couldn't be determined due interference from each opponent in the various matches leading up to this show, as a result, a four way is made, no flashy storyline or angle, everyone just wants to be champ and all fight it out to do so. There is tons of referees' in the ring during the entrances in order to separate the wrestlers, which is a nice touch, wish they did this more often. Undertaker and Kane brawl in the ring to start, while Rock and Benoit brawl in the crowd and on the outside. Nothing really noteworthy until the ref gets bumped and and Rock and Undertaker got taken out with chairshots, Chris pins the 'Deadman' and Earl Hebner counts the three, but Taker's foot is on the rope. For the second pay per view this year, Benoit has won the WWF title, but like what happened at Fully Loaded 2000, Commissioner Mick Foley restarts the match. Kane, Undertaker and Rock come after the 'Rapid Wolverine' and more brawling insues. Decent back and forth with each guy getting their stuff in and the champ suffering the brute of the punishment. Rock ends up getting the Rock Bottom on Benoit as Kane and Undertaker are brawling on the outside for the finish. Decent main event, given the protection of Kane and Undertaker which is proven as the finish sees 'Rocky' snatch the win from out of no where and escapes by the skin of his teeth with the two monsters on the outside, though they brought the match down but it still made for an enjoyable main event and the false finish did add something same way it did at Fully Loaded. Through hell and high water, steelchairs' and chokeslams' The Rock is still the WWF Champion. 2 Stars.

A three match show really, undercard is unimpressive but the big matches deliver, Austin's return, for what it was, was decent. The next night on RAW is where things heat up. I loved the Cage match and Angle vs HHH. Great matches and two I recommend. The rest is nothing major at all, TV in 2000 was the best WWF has ever been, January-August in my opinion, by September they kinda had alot on their plate with the XFL launching soon and they kinda took their eye off the ball a little, we still got good television just not the pinnacle of wrestling we were getting for the first 6 months of the year. 4.5/10. 

Wrapped up the Hell in a Cell 2009 podcast and it should be up sometime next month. Had fun doing it but I prefer my actual written reviews. Will be continuing those and the new one should be up by Monday. Only have one match left but got plans plus work this weekend.
