So my router randomly went out, then came back on one day. My router came back on seconds after it went off and when I went to use the computer, I had no connection, so I looked at the list of wireless networks and my network is nowhere to be found. I have tried unplugging the router for a while and plugging it back in, and that didn't work. The only reason I'm able to be on here now is because I'm using a wired connection. So my question is, how do I get my connection network to appear so I can use it?

So it's the router that turns off by itself? If so then I suggest just getting a new one. There really isn't much you can do, just try to see if your router is plugged in sturdy in the wall plug. Are other networks appearing when you look at the list? (Without wired connection.)

Wait a few seconds and plug it in and turn it back up and try.

Tried it, wasn't able to get back on for hours, even through wired, and when the router finally connected to the internet, my network was still missing, and I can only use my network when using a wired connection.

Weird. So for sure the wireless switch (if on laptop) is on? Try clearing the DNS Cache. Open the Command Prompt window by clicking the , clicking All Programs, clicking Accessories, and then clicking Command Prompt. At the command prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns. If that doesn't work tell me the brand of the router and the model as well.

Router: Cisco Linksys E1000 Open this link first: support.linksys.com/en-us/support/routers/E1000Then navigate over to the tab that says Downloads. Once you've clicked on Downloads, select any download version. (For Now.) Scroll down about mid-way until you find Linksys Connect Setup Software For PC. Click on the blue text almost directly below it. Try that process and tell me how it goes.

Oh and is it possible for a router to get burnt out or stop functioning properly after a while? Reason I'm asking is because my parents gave the cable company a call, and that's what they said could be the problem.

Yeah it's possible, if you can call your cable company and get them to replace it for free then you should just do that, as that's probably the best option.

So even though my network is missing, there's this one that I've never seen before that comes up when my router is on, and goes when router is off. I tried to connect to that random network, by pressing the button on the router and it let me connect wirelessly. So I guess everything is alright, but my actual network is still missing though.
