As great as TD was, Breaking Bad season 5 had three of the greatest episodes of tv ever, including ozymandias which is probably the best. Like I said two months ago, they screwed up going for the more prestigious awards

God dammit. BB was great but that award belonged to Matt. Spacey should be winning next year.

McConaughey got robbed... big time. I think more than anything else, the deciding factor was that to the Emmy voters, Cranston was one of "their guys" (as in a TV actor who has been nominated for and present at many Emmy shows in the past) and McConaughey was a "movie guy" that was just passing through this one time.
Just my opinion, but if you watch the two performances in a vacuum, as opposed to comparing Cranston's entire BB run with True Detective as a standalone season, it's very clear who the stronger performer was.
One man's whiskey...

No one got robbed, Cranston and Breaking Bad deserved the wins.. I don't care how incredible True Detective was, there is no way the biggest drama in the history of television was not going to get a good send off. This was Breaking Bad's farewell. I think the bigger issue here is how does Jim Parsons win over Louis C.K.? And how in the flying does 'Modern Family' continue to win year after year..? Now THAT is what you call favoritism..

Breaking Bad was a great show, but I wouldn't go that far... And I totally agree on Parsons, BTW... Big Bang Theory is probably the worst #1 show (ratings-wise) in TV history. Hate it. Spawned this current terrible fake geek trend.

Like I said two months ago, they screwed up going for the more prestigious awards Exactly. Breaking Bad rightfully won the 5 Emmys it won last night. The Lead Actor and Supporting Actor races were tight races that could have gone to Matt or Peter but I was happy the way it ended up. I was most sad that The Normal Heart and or Fargo lost a lot of the Mini Series/Movie categories. They should have won most of the awards they were up for. BTW I totally agree with the part I made bold. True Detective got what it deserved for trying to go for Best Drama Series/Actor etc. It would have dominated the Mini-Series/TV Movie categories but it gambled and totally lost (aside from Best Drama Director and a handful of Creative Arts Emmys last weekend).

I haven't seen True Detective, so I can only speak on the brilliance of Breaking Bad...but I can't see how anyone could say that Bryan Cranston robbed anyone. I do find it surprising that Aaron Paul won, but it's not utterly shocking to me. I was thrilled to see Fargo win best mini series....I hoped for Martin Freeman to win lead, but glad he won something (even though I haven't seen Sherlock). His acting choices in Fargo are beyond perfection & he's too great of an actor to be overlooked.

The Sopranos is overrated as hell. It definitely didn't start out that way, man.. The Sopranos was top notch television for the longest time, and then it became absolute garbage..

After that, the show has its moments but is nowhere near as consistent as shows like The Wire, Breaking Bad, and GOT. Heck even Dexter had a better run (5 great seasons). Not to mention AJ Soprano had get off my television screen heat,

Breaking Bad is the only show in my opinion that increased in quality each season and ended on a high note. No bad episodes. No jumping the shark. Just a perfect show. Again, my opinion.

I totally agree. Usually shows go out on a low note *cough Dexter* but Breaking Bad was not like that at all and I am just happy the Academy gave it a great 'farewell hug'.

Breaking Bad and True Detective are both phemonial shows but I think I agree this time Breaking Bad should have won more. The last season was just so amazing it started out great and ended great. Breaking Bad was just complete perfection especially the way each episode would stay with you even after you watched it. I couldn't stop thinking about the last episode for over two weeks.
