The Viacom-owned network is not moving forward with the Jennette McCurdy and Ariana Grande comedy after putting the series on hiatus earlier this year.
It's official: Nickelodeon has canceled Sam & Cat.
Ariana Grande has one less problem these days. Her Nickelodeon show Sam & Cat has been cancelled after just one season, Deadline reports. The comedy series starring chart-topper Grande and actress Jennette McCurdy, and has been rife with rumors of conflict.
Back in March, McCurdy chose not to attend the 2014 Kids' Choice Awards in Los Angeles because of issues she had with Nickelodeon. Despite rumors that Grande was receiving a significantly larger salary, the "Problem" crooner took to Twitter confirm her pay was equal to McCurdy's.
"Jennette and I agreed upfront that we would be treated equally on this show in all regards (as we should be, considering we each work just as hard as the other on this show)," Grande, 20, wrote via Twitter in April. "The rumors circulating about our contracts and our salary not being equal are absolutely ridiculous and false. I don't know who's putting these idiotic quotes out there but I thought I'd straighten it out and try to end this nonsense."
The children's network gave little reason as to why the show would be celebrating its "series finale" with episode 36 "#Getting Wiggy," simply saying in a statement, "Nickelodeon will not be producing more episodes of Sam & Cat. We are very proud of the show and its very talented cast and we wish them the best."
The show was a ratings hit, pulling McCurdy's Sam from the popular iCarly and Grande's Cat from the smash Victorious. On Sunday, July 13, Grande posted a long explanation about the end of the show, thanking Nickelodeon and her long-time character Cat.
F*CK! NO MORE ARIANA GRANDE!!!!
