If it's thin, such as a light beard or stubble, lightly drybrushing it on will create a nice effect of hair. If it's thicker, such as, for example, AmDrag's hoboesque beard, you'll need to sculpt it on to create the effect. Many people suggest Sculpey, (sp?) but I find something that works even better is hot glue. Apply it onto the figure, let it dry a bit until it gets just barely warm, and pliable enough. Then I run the tip of the nozzle to create the appearence of texture. No baking, adheres well, lends itself well to painting. Hope I helped.

Okay then. Lightly drybrush a couple coats of brown on, and then after those are dry, drybrush some black and lightly smudge it so that it blends a bit.
